I have one word for you... VANQUISH!
This game looks the shit and there's some serious buzz about this. From Platinum Games the same team that brought you Beyonetta and Mad World. Published by SEGA, which is a shame cos SEGA can't advertise there way out of a paper bag.

I think this game looks amazing and it's probably my number one choice for games coming out this year, October 19th if you were wondering.

I know this game is gunna rule but I reckon like Beyonetta it won't be that much of a comercial success. Which is a shame cos like the film industry most people aren't into new IPs they want established franchises or big names. I know you can quote Red Dead but that was Rockstar.

Dead Space, Limbo, Alan Wake, and Deadly Premonition. All of them new IP's and all of them are considered successes.

Singularity, Blur, DeathSmiles, Fragile, Alpha Protocol. All of them new IP's, and all of them underperformed.
Even a established and very hyped IP (Lost Planet 2) did not do well this year.

Shibuya, I'm pointing out the chance that Vanquish can succeed even though it's a new IP. I'm not saying that all new IPs are success stories.

Yes, I realize that. But I just don't see something like Vanquish to be something easy to sell to the public. Sure there isn't alot to sell, but even something like Bayonetta, which was marketing heavly on the sexual inuendo and gameplay; still didn't sell well in the states. (despite it kicking the ever loving hell out of GoW3)
I'm sure us genre fans will come out to buy it, as well as the Mikami fanboys, but I don't see it doing decent business.
Though, this is entirely speculation. I WANT this game to do well. But I just don't see it happening.

Established IPs started off as new IPs, Gears of War, L4D, Uncharted.
This game won't do gang busters but it'll probably do better than Bayonetta, which did pretty good anyway.

That is true but remember those where considered flag ship games for the consoles. Also Uncharted 2 underperformed I think it was in the NPD for like a month then just dropped, total shame as well cos what a fuckin game!
Not only that but you look at what's coming up for the rest of the year or so it's all Halo: Reach, Black Ops, Medle of Honour, Gears, Bioshock, Batman. Now I'm not saying they ain't good games far from it it's just that the core audience used to be enough to make a game 'successful' now publishers aren't happy if they're not selling 5 million copies.
I'd disagree I reckon it'll do worse. Granted it's a 3rd person which may give it an edge but apart from game sites where have you seen this... no where I bet you I could ask anyone on the street 'what's Vanquish?' and they'd just shrug.

Shinji Mikami game. How many more times can I say it? His games might go above and beyond when it comes to quality, but not alot of them sold quite well.. mind you, he was a head at Clover studios, which had to close afew years back.
The only mildy succesful games he made were oddly Resident Evil 2/4.
