If it's crap... We'll tell you

A conversation between my roomates and I made me realize something. Between the four of us, I think we have not seen every movie ever created. I plan to change this. Once the weekend comes around we're going rent a* movie, each week until the semester ends. So I give to a challenge for all the Spillions.

Please tell me your must see movies. I don't care how popular or how well known it is, one of us has probably not seen it. Need an example? Out of the four of us, i'm the only one whose seen The Godfather. One of us has not seen any of the Lord of the Rings, or the Dark Knight. Two of us have not seen the orginal Star Wars movies (and one has not seen any of them). Yes, I know.

So please give the movies that must be seen, wheather it be classic or not. And please tell a bit about the movie. Like if your recommend The Godfather, tell us its a movie that you can't really talk through, because I have a friend whose gonna try if not ordered to be quiet in the beginning.

*And just so you know, we're going to count trilogy's and the like as one movie.

Gedion with Christopher Lambart.... it's a bit of tear jerker, but it's also so good because it's purely a relationship between characters and how old age's grumpiness can be revitalized into enjoyment of life by an innocent's approach to life in general.

I have at least 20, but here's ten of 'em for now.

Reservoir Dogs is a popular one. I'm inclined to agree. Incredible film... Tarantino at his best.
Pi. one of those really thought-provoking indie films, totally worth seeing again and again.
Fight Club. What can I say? Extremely memorable on every level.
High Anxiety. IMO, Mel Brooks at his friggin' best. Laugh-till-it-hurts stuff.
The Matrix. First one = mind-blowing. Second one = superb action. Third One= take it or leave it.
V for Vendetta. Awesome AND inspiring. Alan Moore can go eat a dick if he don't like it.
Lock, Stock, & 2 Smoking Barrels Hilarious and slickly done. Snatch is almost as good.
And Now for Something Completely Different. Best of Monty Python's Flying Circus. Brilliant.
Sunshine. Not for everyone, but the "stun" factor is so great I was brought to tears.
LOTR. The extended versions display some damn fine filmmaking all around. (Check the '78 animated one, too)

These are my fave must-see movies in two tiers: The Full Price ones (Tier 2) and the Better Than Sex ones (Tier 1).

Also, one that you should see just because it sucks so bad it's hilarious is Starcrash.

Anyway, on to the faves!

Tier 1:
Little Miss Sunshine
Rain Man
The Dark Knight
Juno
Thank You For Smoking
Tier 2:
Forrest Gump
Once
Patch Adams
I Now Pronounce You Chuck & Larry
The Simpsons Movie
Sahara
Hoodwinked
Anchorman
Once
Rent
Guarding Tess
