Hey,Obama wants longer school days.

Basically,Obama is proposing that we need to end summer vacation and make longer school days.
Now im a little worried about the prospect of no summer vacation,but I only have one summer left anway,so I guess it's ok.
But I think that making school days longer wouldn't be expedent(I just learned that word a few weeks ago,lol).Im usually tired by the time I get home from school,and I don't even have and after school activites.But with after school stuff,and homework,ANDlonger school days,not to mention the kids who may have jobs,that might be too much to do in one day.
But I won't go nuts yet,since he hasn't gone into detail about what he exactly plans to do.
But what do you guys think of this?

Longer School days are ok, but bring back recess, p.e. and art. Stuffing kids in a classroom all day may make them better at math, but it will do nothing for thier social and creative skills. In fact bring back dodge ball too, kids need to experience successes and failures. They really don't anymore.
Also, on a personal note, keep your kids out of soccer. Soccer is the root of all evil. Kids need little league, being singled out in a batters box is something all kids should experience. Soccer may help a child get used to team work, but unless they are a goalie they'll never experience a personal victory or defeat. Plus baseball is better for a childs hand eye coordination.
So yeah, longer school days are ok. Soccer is not. That was the question right? :P

ah recess I miss it so much
but anyway I hated school so longer school days would make me want to kill myself or drop out and that's why I don't agree with the proposition

Yeah, I'd imagine if school days were made longer you'd have to restructure daily activities so you weren't just burning everyone out. It might even make things a little easier for parents who have to work long hours (less they'd have to pay for daycare or babysitters). But that's just me speculating what it would be like.
