Man, you really do enjoy sabotaging your own arguments.

This entire thread you've been saying that Akira Toriyama is Japanese, and therefore, his characters must also be Japanese.

Now you're stating that you're a black man writing a story about a Japanese character.

But... you're black... so... your characters are all black too... right?? What's the world coming to?!

So, as i've mentioned several times, if I said nothing, THEN you can say "my characters are black".

So, since the author of Dragonball said nothing about his character's race they're automatically Japanese in a world in which Japan doesn't exist? Are you that narrow-minded? For all we know Asians don't exist in the world of Dragonball.

"Chinese fairy tales?" Oh Toriyama, you mean Japanese fairy tales. You're Japanese silly, therefore, everyone in your comic is Japanese as well... silly comicbook artist...

Gee, let's see.. a tail, a staff, super speed, incredible powers, a sense of martial arts? Didn't we already HAVE a character like that in films?

Oh yeah, Jet Li as the Monkey King in Forbidden Kingdom.

Boy, wouldn't it have been great if they'd taken the opportunity to make an actual Journey To The West movie starring Jet Li and Jackie Chan....

Li as Sun Wukong. Chan as Xuanzang.

I don't know anything about DragonBall Z but does his race really affect the film? Some characters the race of the actor portraying them dosen't matter (Bond for instance).

But honestly this type of source material is like the overly drunk highschool virgin at a Particularly low grade and guy heavy college dorm party.

They really squandered an amazing opportunity with that one.

They finally put Jet Li in a role where his natural charisma shines through and makes a lovable rogue of a character even more likable.

They'd be able to capitalize on Chan's comedic fighting style and affable buffoonery without making it seem completely out of place and ridiculous.

What do they do instead?
They slap together some shitty nonsense and put a white teenager in the lead role.... oh Hollywood, when will you learn....?
