An interesting discussion on video games becoming the new cultural experssion of this generation.

So what do you think? Do video games make people violent or is it just a bunch of bushwah? Do you have any proof either way?

"The co-CEO of Quantic Dream (Developers of the PS3 title Heavy Rain) has taken the media to task over its presentation of violence in video games, saying that many things are taken out of context, leading to controversy."

I have no idea who that guy is but i do agree with him, the argument has been proven time and time again that video games just arent influential enough to cause someone to commit violent acts.
I mean i myself (in the video game universe) have slaughtered, maimed, murdered, tortured thousands of virtual people but in real life i have never been in a fight and avoid confrontation as much as possible. In fact its the exact opposite, the violence helps me release anger and frustration.
Ill admit it, in high school i was a gigantic anti social nerd and id get picked on in a lot. What was my solution? beat up everybody that looked at me the wrong way like some punk? no. Take out all my problems by picking on someone weaker like the bullies did me? no. I ran home, popped in Perfect Dark, played the multiplayer simulation thing where you get to fight bots and spend an hour just mowing down people just to release some anger.
Now to not look like a mental patient i wasnt seething with rage and on the brim of murder and video games were the only thing that stopped me....it just helped keep my sanity and it helped keep me just not giving a shit about the idiots in school instead of letting their crap get to me.

The fact of the matter is is video games are the new scapegoat for shitty parenting, that our kids are horrible little creatures because of this medium, movies went through it, music went through it, books went it through it and its just game's turn to deal with the yearly wave of overprotective parents that would rather blame then teach.

Soapbox rant thats been said plenty of times before so im not really making a new point over!
