It wasn't really a sleeper. It was just released wide this weekend.

Was it that about ? oh yeah back when Spike criticized Eastwood for the film Flags Of Our Fathers . But look at Eastwood now , he's still making great movies .

I honestly believe this was due to Clint Eastwood going door to door and just growling at people until they agreed to see his movie.

But in all seriousness, I'm not surprised at all. Gran Torino was the one movie that people would see.

It has Clint Eastwood, a well known actor, was marketed as (from what I've seen), an action/drama movie, and promises of Clint telling young'ns to get off of his property.

Who wouldn't want to see it?

GRrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ...........
that will make me pay full price . But Clint is a great actor.

Very cool. I'm glad to see it did so well. I saw it yesterday, and the theater was packed.

Same here. I was quite surprised by the turn out. I saw the long-ass line & figured it was a bunch of idiots flocking to see The Unborn & Bride Wars. XP But, I was pleasantly taken aback by the volume of patrons
in the auditorium for Gran Torino.
