Dawn Of The Dead
Freaky Friday
The Shaggy Dog

There's some others I'm not thinking of right now, but these are the ones I can muster up right now.

Dawn of the dead had in my opinion the most scary zombies if seen, but still it's no where near the original dawn of the dead.

Ben-Hur with Charlton Heston was a remake.
Scarface with Al Pacino was a remake.

There's several remakes that are out there. Some have different names, making it hard to find. Others are what we call the "Original" due to their age.

It's not a matter of doing the remake. It's a matter of how WELL they are done. And I'll admit that lately, they haven't really been done that well.

Hehehe! Blatant plug. Finally got to see Evangelion 1.0 on the big screen, and was blown away. Not quite a "remake", it's been labeled a "rebuild", as it's 80% recycled footage from the TV show, but this is not a Lucasization, this is truly a masterful job of editing, subtle tweaks, and spit and polish. While purists will still want to delve into the full series, this is the proper way for those with casual interest to watch, as it distills the vital essence, and brings the run-time of it's first 6 episodes down to 98 mins. This will give you a pretty good idea if you want to continue. Only down side is, you've probably missed the chance to see it in theaters, and as of yet, I can't seem to find any information on it's dubbed DVD release date.

Not quite the best trailer, but it dose give a overview for those unfamiliar
