and spamming the square button.

Permalink Reply by Mr. E on May 1, 2012 at 3:15pm I'm actually looking forward to this game, as I love the GoW games, but this got a chuckle out of me. :-)
Permalink Reply by Flounderboy on May 1, 2012 at 11:03am For a long time (In the early days of this new console generation) I would sit back and shake my fist at Multi-player canoodling with my single player, however in my opinion this move is necessary for the franchise's growth. Hear me out on this!
I don't know about you guys but after finishing GoWIII I had a feeling of "Welp...that's the end of that"....and even though the ride was great it was over and there wasn't really anything to bring me back to play again. Multi-player could be a good solution in that it keeps players interested, invested, and talking about your game long after its release. If I'm not mistaken the Director said in an article that the MP is not tied into the single player campaign at all. So you don't have to worry about missing out on any of the story if you choose not to play the MP.
"But this means that the campaign will be shorter!" you reply.
Well if you're reading up on this new GoW game then it's likely you've played the other games in the series. We have a pretty good picture of what's going to happen because we've known this character for years now (and every game has a healthy dose of flashbacks). Do you really need a 8-9 hour (probably a bad guess) campaign to tell you what you already know? Probably not. Kratos was a bad ass (unpowered?) Spartan general with a wife and daughter and he swore his allegiance to Ares. I think what's little left to figure out about Kratos wouldn't justify a full console release and that multi-player will help round out the game as a whole.
In conclusion....Oh my God did you see what they did to that cyclops! What the hell did he do to deserve that!?

There's no way anyone can be this stupid so I'll just go ahead and assume there is high amounts of sarcasm in those lines.
Permalink Reply by Flounderboy on May 1, 2012 at 12:57pm Why yes there was sarcasm, yet I stand by my viewpoint. Care to explain your view?
Permalink Reply by Flounderboy on May 1, 2012 at 1:19pm Really only in the "But this means..." line and the first few lines of my reply. Everything else was my honest opinion based off of my history with the franchise and what I've read about Ascension.
I just can't foresee them creating enough new content to have a full release. At best I think it would end up feeling more like really good downloadable content and would leave players with a feeling of "That was pretty good....but is that it?". However, adding the multi-player adds to content, replayablity, available trophies, and could provide an enjoyable take on multi-player outside of the realm of shooters, fighters, and racing multi-player.
None of this is a guarantee of course and only time will tell how the majority of fans will react. As of right now I think that it's a smart move on the studio's part and I'm hoping they pull it off.

Now I'm interested in this video game!
