Hey it's Melvin! posted a statusBeen news about it for a few days and no thread.
I was never crazy about the God of War series, but they all have been good games. I'm not exactly doing backflips, but I'm interested to see what they do different with this one.
Also, if you glanced at the threads I posted a few beta codes for Ghost Recon. Since none went to ACTUAL members I felt sad so if anyone wants one (Who is actually a member) then post and I'll drop you a key. Just one, sorry.

Permalink Reply by Joe on April 22, 2012 at 5:29pm I read an article on what David Jaffe (the director of GOW1) would have done with GOW3 ending. Here it is.....
While David Jaffe’s segment at Gametrailers.com talking about Twisted Metal was cool and all, his own version of God of War III’s ending is the highlight of this post. Just check out what he has to say at the 11:07 mark. To reiterate, he planned to have Kratos cut Zeus’ head off after 5 minutes. Then all of a sudden, all the different gods from different mythologies (Egyptian, Norse, etc.) start pouring out and decide who gets to be the bigger power among all of the old religions. He also mentioned that an Egyptian version of Kratos makes an appearance. At the end, Kratos manages to kill all of them by tricking them into fighting each other. Since the only way to kill a god is to make people stop believing in him/her, getting the gods distracted somehow made people suffer and, as a result, stop believing in them.
That’s not all, though: David Jaffe also planned to have Kratos slit his own wrist with his Blades of Chaos via SixAxis controls so that he can be together with his family in the underworld. The final shot of his planned ending was a controllable segment involving the Three Wise Men and the birth of all the new religions. Personally, that would have been better than what we really got at the end of God of War III.
In my opinion, this would have been a MUCH better ending rather than that bullshit ending Stig Asmussen went with. Cory Barlog wanted Kratos to become Death/Grim Reaper, which would still have been better than the actual GOW3 ending.

Would have made for a really interesting game if done right.

Permalink Reply by Ultimate Snyderman on April 22, 2012 at 1:38am Can't Wait. All of the GOW games are really great and I do not have any doubts that that this will be great too.
Permalink Reply by Zulzon on April 22, 2012 at 2:12am I really like God of War, which makes me so angry that I haven't played any of them.
Permalink Reply by Jon, Gallifrey's Mindfreak on April 22, 2012 at 9:28pm I'm very disappointed they didn't do a mythology jump. However, I'm sure they can pull something off.
Permalink Reply by Guy LaDouche's Intern on April 23, 2012 at 11:34am I've played God of War 1 and 2.
How did it end? Someone told me that Kratos tries to sacrifice himself in saving humanity but Athena steals his spotlight.
Permalink Reply by Cthulhu R'lyeh on April 23, 2012 at 1:17pm Should have ended with God of War 1. It had a good story, video game quality wise.
Permalink Reply by Jon, Gallifrey's Mindfreak on April 23, 2012 at 7:36pm What was wrong with the stories of GOW 2 and 3?
Permalink Reply by Cthulhu R'lyeh on April 24, 2012 at 4:11pm I could not take Kratos seriously anymore. Not to mention that GOW 1 ended perfectly, what with showing us that Kratos influenced every war in human history and all.
Permalink Reply by Jon, Gallifrey's Mindfreak on April 24, 2012 at 6:50pm .....Yeah, I'll give you that one about "not taking Kratos seriously". I always joke with my friends that Kratos' actions get less and less justifiable as the series goes on. In the first one he's an antihero (obviously), but he's also a tragic hero (akin to the Greek myths he is based upon) who you really feel sorry for as the game goes on (Yes, I've recently replayed God of War 1). In 2 and 3, Kratos is basically just throwing the biggest tantrum ever.
It's sort of interesting if you consider the idea that he's looking at the traditional roles of Greek heroes (i.e: the pawns of the gods) and saying "Fuck that!", but he really has no good reason to do so. However, that doesn't mean I didn't like GOW 2 or 3. I found the levels, characters and monsters well designed (for the most part), and the beginning of GOW 2 is one of my favorite introductions to a game in recent memory.
As for "the first one ended perfectly", you can say the same thing about most games that have sequels, so I really don't hold that against the game.
Permalink Reply by LunaticLMD on April 24, 2012 at 5:28pm God of War 2 should have ended with Kratos killing Zeus.
That ending was such a cock tease.
And God of War 3 should have been better. It was a good game, but too safe.
