JeWeLz posted a blog postIt has been quite a year and we still have some heavy hitters to look forward to before it is over. The problem I am facing with this, however, is that I find it hard to narrow down a list of the best games of the year or even to find THE best game of the year. So many different types of games have come out and it will be a beast to narrow down anything to any kind of award category or top ten list.
So, what games do you think will be seen on everyone's top ten or five lists by the end of the year?
I will wait to make my official list, but here are some choices I could consider in some form or another (I am not saying they will, but these are my personal options):
- Assassin's Creed: Revelations
- Bastion
- Batman: Arkham City
- Battlefield 3
- Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
- Catherine
- Crysis 2
- Dark Souls
- Dead Space 2
- Deus Ex: Human Revolution
- The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
- Gears of War 3
- Killzone 3
- Infamous 2
- L.A. Noire
- The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword
- LittleBigPlanet 2
- Portal 2
- Rage
- Resistance 3
- Star Wars: The Old Republic
- Uncharted 3
- The Witcher 2: Assassins of Kings

skyward sword, uncharted, skyrim, call of duty and arkham city will probably be the main contenders unless assassins creed does something different which it prob wont. Bastion will prob be downloadable game of the year and im sure Catherine will win some kind of award but not game of the year even though it was my favorite so far this year.
Permalink Reply by Jason Straub on November 9, 2011 at 4:50pm I'll start giving a shit about game of the year when the industry can agree on one official game of the year program. As it stands every single channel or publication related to gaming comes out with a list, and a lot of times they give the award to shit. I think I stopped caring when G4 gave game of the year to Fable 2 despite the game being an all around disappointment, much like any other Lion's Head game.

Permalink Reply by Mo-Mo on November 9, 2011 at 7:31pm It would be nice but no one other then gamers would take it seriously
Maybe, maybe not but the game industry is huge, bigger even than the movie industry and roughly on par with the music industry in terms of global sales. It is also the fastest growing of all entertainment industries.
Quick and dirty numbers:
Permalink Reply by Jimmy Bananers on November 9, 2011 at 6:25pm Arkham city and Portal 2 have been the best single player games i've played this year, we'll see if skyrim changes my mind. The multiplayer i've had the most fun with has been GOW3 but there hasn't been anything new i've played.
