If it's crap... We'll tell you

I got my free copy along with a bunch of other free comics. Its mostly a conversation between Hal and Barry and then a bunch of profile pages with info about all the different corps. It was well written with an appropriate emphasis on death. Ivan Reis art was lovely as well.

Anybody else pick it up or any other cool shit?

FUCKKKK DID I MISS FREE COMIC BOOK DAY? NOOOOOO

Oh shit, my condolences.

Anywho, I'm a relative DC newbie, and I was a little confused.
First off, it showed the tombstones of the dead people. Sue Dibny died in Identity Crisis, but what about the other gravestone? Was that Ralph?
Also, who the hell's Ronnie Raymond?
And last but not least, there was a quick panel of Hawkman and Hawkgirl with Capatain Atom(?). What was that about? Were they dead? Or, should I say Black Lanterns?

But other than that..............

Oh yeah, I liked the Black Lantern chant.

Ralph Dibny died in 52. Ronnie Raymond was the original Firestorm.
The panel of the Hawks and the Atom... I'm not sure... it looks like they're just flying around the graveyard.

Are they gonna be Black Lanterns?!?!?!

Ronnie Raymond is the original Firestorm.

Artist Philip Tan (Green Lantern) stopped by and did free sketches. He drew me a awesome Batman sketch.

That's awesome. Consider me jealous.

This is my first free comic book event, and I can't believe I got a free sketch from a real comic artist, especially someone who's drawing the current Green Lanterns story line. I'm officially a Philip Tan fan, his art is amazing.

I went to two comic stores, the first one was kind of packed. Several artist where there as well, but I forgot who they were, so I’ll stop by again and ask who signed my two free comics. One of the Hernandez Brothers (Love and Rockets) was scheduled to stop by, but I wasn't there. I was thinking of staying and getting his signature, but I didn't stay.

I haven't really paid any attention to the free books that I got, although I distinctly remember the classic Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles issue I got. I hope they reprint the TPBs of the original series sometime soon.

My LCS had some special deals going on that distracted me from the free comics. I only took advantage of two of the deals: buy two TPBs, get a third free - and buy a long box at regular price, and for an additional $35 you can fill it up with whatever you can get into it from designated areas of the store. Obviously they weren't going to let people grab up the really good stuff.

I got 6 TPBs (2 free), and 2 long boxes of a ton of random stuff. The majority of them would be old Silver Surfer comics, Legends of the Dark Knight issues, Dr. Strange, Punisher 2099, old Micronauts, a bunch of full runs of lesser known stuff mostly from Image, Wildstorm, and Chaos (you know how they have all these random, cool-looking characters that have like 5 or 6 issues to their name), and then a bunch of random stuff like...I don't know...I just pulled out Excalibur Annual #1 from one of the boxes for an example.

The 6 TPBs I got were... Powers - Volume 1 ; The Boys - Volume 1 ; 100 Bullets - Volume 1 ; Ex Machina - Volume 1 ; Preacher - Volume 2 ; Preacher - Volume 3

And I also got an Omega Red action figure for a buck, a small Deadpool figure for 10 bucks, and a lead figurine of Venom for 6 bucks. They were all on sale for today. I think it was half off, except for the Omega Red which was in the storage building behind the store.

I spent six and a half hours at the shop and literally looked through about 40 long boxes of comics searching for things to stick in my 2 long boxes.

Wowz. Quite the haul.
Re: TMNT
I've heard they will be reprinting trades of the original series but with Mirage ya never really know.

I just looked through the free comic of TMNT and in the back there's an ad saying that Volume 1 of the original series is available for pre-order. 500+ pages, collecting issues 1 through 11 and 4 micro series.

Point of interest- the skull Black Hand tears out of the ground belongs to *spoiler* Bruce Wayne.

So maybe he will be a black lantern.
