If it's crap... We'll tell you

what's a flick where you wonder why it's so popular? same question also for flicks that no one likes but you love.

first person to get all butt-hurt based on another person opinion/post and starts a bitch fest is a douche

for me, it has to be Equilibrium. I saw it based on all sorts of recommendations by people that like Dark City and when I saw it, I couldn't help but wonder why.

On the other hand, I think Josie and the Pussycats was completely mis-marketed. I thought it was hilarious, especially with all the little things going on and Parker Posey was a great villain.

Speed Racer - glad I'm not the only one who thinks this
Hulk (in my opinon, Ang Lee's version is a better film while 2008 Hulk is just 90% fanservice)

The Kingdom of The Crystal Skull

Many people liked it but after seeing it I was just angry because it went from Indiana Jones to X-Files in the span of 10 minutes. It just felt like me a lazy way to end a movie.

Haha..LOVE this thread.. ok my 2 cents:

Overrated: Don't Believe the HYPE!
1) "Drag me to Hell"(Raimi Lost his touch)
2) "High Tension"(What, the videotape LIED?)
3) "Mystic River" (Penn is a talented actor, but it was NOT the Second Coming, plus the end was Predictable!
Penn does better jobs in "Bad Boys", "State of Grace", & "Carlito's Way".)
4) "Training Day" (Good movie, but NOT Denzel's BEST performance ever!.. "Malcolm X" was better!)
5) "Do the Right Thing" (Spike Lee's view on Racial Tension got way too much ink, "Malcolm X" was better,
plus I Know I'm the only one who liked Singleton's "Higher Learning" more than "DtRT".)

OverHated: These BY NO MEANS are Masterpieces but did NOT deserve all the HATE heaped on them.
1) "The Blair Witch Project",
2) Ang Lee's "Hulk",
3) "Superman Returns"
4) "Legend"
5) "1941"

OverLooked: These are just picks, where I don't know if no one likes them, but I LOVE them.
1) "Four Friends" Arthur Penn's moving tale of Unrequited Love as 4 friends live thru the turbulent 60's & 70's.
2) "Fresh" Boaz Yakin's Powerful debut: about a young boy caught in a violent inner city world of guns & drugs.
3) "Kikujiro" Takeshi Kitano best known for violent fare; this poignant film reflects a softer side to "Beat" Takeshi.
4) "The Bird People of China" Violent auteur Takashi Miike ("Audition"), displays a surprising softer side as well.
5) "State of Grace" Phil Janou's Powerful film of friendship & betrayal in NY (Sean Penn & Gary Oldman Astound!)
6) "Sorcerer" I know "Wages of Fear" was 1st, but MUCH prefer this William Friedkin Nail-Biter with Roy Scheider.
7) "Red Belt" David Mamet (known 4 vulgar mis-direction)* tale of a Martial Artist who embodies Honor & Humility*
8) "The Wanderers" "The Right Stuff" director's take on New York gang life in 1963, "Beware the Ducky Boys!".
9) "Streets of Fire" Everyone knows Walter Hill's "The Warriors", you might not have seen his "Musical Noir".
10) "Tae Guk Gi" (Korea) probably the greatest war film you never heard of.. Tied with "The 4 days of Naples"
(Italy) the 2nd greatest war film you might not have heard of.

Overhated:

Superman Returns
