what's a flick where you wonder why it's so popular? same question also for flicks that no one likes but you love.
first person to get all butt-hurt based on another person opinion/post and starts a bitch fest is a douche
for me, it has to be Equilibrium. I saw it based on all sorts of recommendations by people that like Dark City and when I saw it, I couldn't help but wonder why.
On the other hand, I think Josie and the Pussycats was completely mis-marketed. I thought it was hilarious, especially with all the little things going on and Parker Posey was a great villain.
Indeed, your "overhated" list is rather quaint, if not comically misguided!
Thus, in sporting retaliation, I shall be the first to cast my glare upon Revenge of the Fallen!
I actually don't like using the term "hater" or anything related to it, mostly because I think it's misused to the point that people can't even define the term without making it applicable to a dislike of broccoli.
Overrate:
Juno(It was alright)
Star Trek(Why would anybody call this a sci fi masterpiece)
GMK(What's with the rave reviews?)
Death Note(Good not great)
Overhated:
Speed Racer(Masterpiece! you wanted a Speed movie and you got one)
Knowing(Awesome!)
Human Nature(Love Gondry)
The Matrix sequels(Fuck you!)
Star Wars prequels(It's different)
Hey dude, I loved the hell out of those films especially Speed Racer which to me is the best Watchowski Brothers film and best live action Anime film ever.
Honestly you feel that the Matrix sequels lived up to their potential? I think a lot of the hate came from a really amazing story in the first one and then 2 lackluster follow ups that could have been cut down to 1 movie.
As for Star Wars, to each their own, but I go to movies to be entertained and I wasn't in any of the 3.
