So I'm looking on my old dusty movie shelf and I found a movie that really left an impression on me as a young child. This movie is the 2005 remake of War of the Worlds. So I decided to watch it again after four years to see if it would scare me as much as it did when I first saw it when I was ten. And wouldn't you know it, it wasn't anything like I remember. So have any you guys ever had that experience where you watched a movie that you watched years ago and it being nothing like you remember?
I would have to say John Carpenters "The Thing". Don't get me wrong the movie still holds up well to comparison with horror films today(no teenagers within sight or hearing) and upon maturing i came to realize the script was outstanding but when i looked back on some of the scenes like the dogs face erupting with tentacles it didn't have the same shock value when i saw it at 13.
Child's Play scared me almost point of permanent scaring as a kid. I never played with dolls again after watching that movie (not to mention the traps i set up around the house incase one of them ever came alive and tried to kill me). I watched it again years later and found it hilarious. Not a big shocker their but its funny how those things work out.
I also remember really enjoying Escape to Witch Mountain as a kid...that doesn't hold up in the least.
