Name five film performances that deserved an Academy Award nomination (or hell, even a Golden Globe nomination), but never got one. Here are my five:

Peter Lorre as Hans Backert in M.
Malcolm McDowell as Alex DeLarge in A Clockwork Orange.
Leandro Firmino as Li'l Zé in City of God.
Peter O'Toole as Anton Ego in Ratatouille.
Peter Capaldi as Malcolm Tucker in In The Loop.

What are yours? Try naming some that aren't bad guy performances. =P

Jeremy Irons as Beverly Mantel and Elliot Mantel in Dead Ringers
Robin Williams as Seymour "Sy" Parrish in One Hour Photo
Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent/Two-Face in The Dark Knight
John Dall as Brandow Shaw in Rope
Bibi Andersson as Alma the Nurse in Persona
Great choices. =)
Yeah. Malcolm McDowell is one of the most famous snubs in Hollywood History.

Mine picks are of movies that were all together overlooked for their performances. And I'm also going to add a sixth.

6.) Clint Eastwood "The Good, The Bad, The Ugly"
5.) David Carradine and Uma Thurman "Kill Bill"
4.) Gary Oldman "Sid and Nancy"
3.) Brad Pitt, Edward Norton, Helena Bonham Carter "Fight Club"
2.) Cary Grant "His Girl Friday"

And my absolute favorite proformance of all time.
Two-Face ain't got shit on Nick Naylor!

"Michael Jordan plays ball. Charles Manson kills people. I talk. Everyone has a talent."
Love that movie.
I'm afraid most, if not all my choices can be considered villains, or what Nick Naylor might call "Complex Characters"
As long as they deserved to be nominated, but weren't, I'm cool with it. No need to be afraid. =P
Sam Rockwell as Sam Bell in Moon
Val Kilmer as Doc Holliday in Tombstone
Sharlto Copley as Wikus Van De Merwe in District 9
Johnny Depp as Ed Wood in Ed Wood
Jim Carrey as Truman Burbank in The Truman Show
Sharlto Copley as Wikus van de Merwe in District 9
Sam Rockwell as Sam bell in Moon
Michael Rapaport as Les Franken in Special
Brad Pitt as Tyler Durden in Fight Club
Hugo Weaving as V in V for Vendetta
Me and the Academy have never gotten along. I name five awesome non-nominated proformances from 2009, and will probably be doing the same for 2010

Sharlto Copley in "District 9"
Viggo Mortensen "The Road" (I even hated that Movie)
Peter Sarsgaard "An Education"
Diane Kruger "Inglourious Bastards"
Sam Rockwell "Moon"
Any others from different years, or possibly different decades?
I was talking about this last year. I don't think I could do an honest 5 performances for any other year, but I could. But these were five performances I expected to be nominated before they were snubbed, and I will remember them down the years.
oooh, nice list.
