Final Fantasy: Which ones have you played and what are your opinions?

The Final Fantasy series is, arguably, one of the most overrated game series ever.

Even so, the games ( for the most part) are enjoyable and they're popular enough for Square Enix to continue to produce more.

Just as the thread title indicates, which Final Fantasy games have you played and what do you think of them?

Here's mine:

Final Fantasy 7- Possibly the Series' opus, this enstallment is the most well known of the games (I think so anyway). This was the last game I bought before I got my PS2 and, honestly, I got it because of all the praise I heard people give it. I bought it, played it and...it was good. Not great, but good.

My biggest complaint with the game, is the fact that it runs for SO LONG. Good god this game takes forever and because of that, it got really boring in a few spots.

The story was well executed (for the most part) and the majority of the characters were good.

Also, for those who know, how is the game different if you don't find Yuffie or Vincent? I always found both, but I always wondered how the game would differ.

Final Fantasy 8- Fun to play, but disappointing overall. People say this one is the absolute worst, but I disagree...to an extent.

This was the first FF game I played, so therefore maybe I'm biased towards it. I think the battle system is fun and I loved using the GF's .

However, A large chunk of the characters were uninteresting/annoying and the games ending is basically a slap to the face and tells that you pretty much wasted hours of your life on the game. Those who have finished the games should know what I mean.

Final Fantasy 10
- I could be in the minority for this, but I actually enjoyed playing FFX.

Is it the greatest game ever? No, but it is a fun way to kill some time.

The story was...pretty stupid, but I think it's alright to have a game with a not so great storyline on occasion. Hell the majority of storylines people create for their D&D games are exasperatingly ridiculous.

I liked all of the characters, except for Tidus and Yuna (Not liking the leads, who knew?). Yuna got a little better as the game progressed, but Tidus was always a whiny, retarded-ass beach boy with peroxide brain damage. Alot of times I wished Kimahri would eat him. I absolutely loved Lulu.

The best part of the game was the battle system and the Aeons.

Final Fantasy X-2
- Oh my sweet AllahBuddhaChrist This game was horrible! Forget FF8, THIS is the worst in the series! There is almost nothing redeemable in this game.

It is a continuation of a story that I didn't think needed more added to it. I thought the ending of FFX was, while ambiguous, overall decent.

The only Notable characters were Paine and Yuna (who is 10x better here; too bad it's in such a bad game.) All of the leftover characters are either really annoying (Rikku) or too minuscule to even matter. All of the new characters are BORING!

I kinda like the layout thing that you do with the spheres, but do we need to see them transform EVERY SINGLE TIME? It's worse than watching an episode of Sailor Moon.

I also don't like that fact that magic takes to long to use.

Overall, my least favorite that i've played (can't you tell?).

Final Fantasy 13-
Haven't finished it (I'm about 25 hours in), but It's pretty good overall.

I'll most likely give a review when I'm finished.

So there's mine.

Give your opinions.

All feedback is welcome.

I heard that there were a lot of budget restrictions that VII ran into near the end and the final act of the game was different from the one that was originally planned. I don't know how far off it ended up being, but I'd only like to see them remake the game if they decided to work from the original script and give us the game the way it was originally meant to be. It's not like they wouldn't make their money back this time so the budget wouldn't be as much of a concern as it was back in the mid nineties.
Despite all that, I found Zack to be a much more likable main character than Cloud.
I can see that, only because Zack is kinda built to be that way. I mean, look at it from a character stand-point.

Cloud is quite reserved, tends to be alittle cold, has that 'silent justice' moral code going on for him. He's a intresting character, but likeable is up to debate.

Zack on the other hand, he's cheerful, tends to crack jokes, follows that whole 'brave hero' persona, always putting others before himself.
He was kind of an emo bitch.  He got better by the end of the game, but then they went totally backward with Advent Children.
My opinion on IX is as follows: It was a great game, but the final boss just came out of nowhere and had nothing to do with the rest of the story. What I liked most about it was that the characters were incredibly specialized and didn't share a lot of attributes so that added a lot of strategy to your party composition. Ever since VII I think that all of the characters in the games (with the exception of this one of course) you just kind of had these super powerful characters and you built up the ones you liked and then the rest were left pretty much untouched. I also really liked the design work, many of the cities looked really awesome. It's a world I'd definitely like to see revisited. The music was also amazing as well.
I've played 6, 7, 8 9, 10 and 13. 6 is probably my favorite FF game. I liked 7 a lot, but it was really easy, and the story is a bit overrated. I liked the battle system in 8 a lot more. It was much more intricate and customizable but the story in the game wasn't very good and the characters were kinda generic. 9 was ok, 10 was pretty fun for me but i found the characters to be lame. I've really only played a couple hours worth of 13 at my friends house, and i didn't like it at all, mostly because it just didn't seem like a final fantasy game. I really hope the next one is better, because it seems like this franchise has been going downhill ever since 10.
I totally agree with you on FF12, but if you just hang in there and plow through the ridiculous gameplay, you'll be rewarded. The story really does have some great payoffs.
That's kind of funny because I liked the gameplay in XII more than the gameplay in some of the others. It plays a lot like games like Baldur's Gate or Knights of the Old Republic, which tended to be pretty popular.
I've only played Final Fantasy IX on the ps1 and I thought it was amazing with a great storyline and one of the longest games I've played and thats despite only making it to the 3rd disk because freakin Kuja is impossible to beat
Final Fantasy XIII and its my favorite game this console generation. I love the story, characters, graphics gameplay and the fact that it is 40 hours long.
Is it only forty hours? I'm in 24 and I just finished the tutorial and got full control of the game.
BADUM TSH!
