Permalink Reply by Masked Anti-Hero on June 16, 2012 at 10:30am That's actually true most of the time. I consider punk-influenced alternative/indie bands like Nirvana, Sonic Youth, Pavement, The Replacements, The Pixies, White Stripes, etc. to be far superior to my favorite actual punk bands. Just opinion, though.
Permalink Reply by Artie Fufkin on June 16, 2012 at 12:26pm most punk in the 70's was the voice of a disillusioned youth in what were seriously shitty times (and i'm talking bout the UK here) it was in answer to the shite way they were represented (or not as was mostly the case)
but i dissagree KID age has everything to do with it, that's why someone as young as you is so sickenly hip-hop orientated (as your posts in the 'perfect album' thread shows)
You say 'Punk Rock influenced groups/artists > Actual Punk Rock groups/artists' but do not volunteer any ideas of which of the former you think this of and why, or is it that general statement IS your belief and that everyone that falls into the first part of your equation IS greater than every other artist etc that falls into the latter?
fuck my time away from this site made me forget how fucking irritating you can be
so come on then ultra explain yourself if you can?
Permalink Reply by ▲UltraK.I.D.™▽ on June 16, 2012 at 12:57pm I didn't want to write something long so I simplified my overall feelings of Punk Rock music, I pretty much sure the same views as Masked Anti-Hero.
Age really hasn't nothing to do it, I grew up listening to different genres and actually preferred Rock music over urban music at one point in my life. I used to be heavy into the Punk scene & like I did with every genre I become interested in I did my research. Also, my age has nothing to do with me loving Hip-Hop in fact I probably like Hip-Hop for the same reason you love Punk Rock ...It's raw, energetic, rebellious etc.
Permalink Reply by Artie Fufkin on June 16, 2012 at 5:36pm claiming to share the same views as someone else is a fucking cop out again, so again i'll ask you explain yourself (and notice i've underlined a specific word)
and raw, energetic and rebellious doesn't come close to how i feel about punk, i'd probably prefer words like pivotal and necessary
Permalink Reply by ▲UltraK.I.D.™▽ on June 16, 2012 at 6:05pm Hip-Hop can be considered pivotal and necessary as well but let's not get into that. My feelings towards punk rock is obvious - I enjoy some punk rock groups/artists but overall I prefer groups(like Joy Division) who are just influenced by the genre & don't make straight forward punk rock music. Allot of Spill members tend to hate Hip-Hop but enjoy Hip-Hop influenced artists like DJ Shadow, Gorillaz, Red Hot Chili Peppers etc. my feelings towards punk are similar except I don't hate the genre. The same can be said for hipsters who hate Disco music but enjoy listening to House music - get my drift?
Permalink Reply by Artie Fufkin on June 17, 2012 at 3:18am ok let's just forget it then, i can't be arsed with you. You mention Joy Division, one band, like it should explain you're statement in full then give me this

if you put as much into you're train of thought abot the actual question i asked i'd be happy but you seem incapable so let's drop it eh?
Permalink Reply by ▲UltraK.I.D.™▽ on June 17, 2012 at 12:04pm I've already explained myself, I don't know what you want me to say. Maybe you wanted an actual argument or expected something else from me.
Permalink Reply by Artie Fufkin on June 21, 2012 at 1:21pm don't want an arguement just want you to give better explanation like you usually do when hip-hop is called to task, you only mentioned joy division to answer my question but listed 5 odd bands in answer to your own hip-hop non related sidestep!
