Favorite ANIMATED Batman movie?
Ok, to be clear, I am talking about ANIMATED films. If I just said "Favorite Batman movie", EVERYONE would either say the Tim Burton films, or the Chris Nolan films (with a few saying the 60's films). But, there have also been MANY animated Batman films.
For me, my favorites would be Mask of the Phantasm, Subzero, Return of the Joker, Under the Red Hood, and The Dark Knight Returns Part 1. BUT, my absolute favorite of these would have to be Batman Beyond: Return of the Joker. AMAZING film, and a great Mark Hamill Joker film too.

Batman Beyond Return of the Joker is probably my favorite as I have seen it the most. It is just so disturbing, but explains a lot about Batman and his character in that series.
Batman Under the Red Hood was also really good. I loved John DiMaggio's Joker, and the ending was very powerful and tragic.
I also really like The Batman vs Dracula. It is probably the best thing to come out of The Batman. The animation for vampire Joker gave me nightmares. A lot of people dislike this series' version of the Joker, but he was an interesting interpretation of the character. I also like Peter Stormare, and he delivers a good performance as Dracula.
Subzero is also a really good one. I had this on tape when I was a kid and I really felt for him. Mr Freeze is one of my favorite Batman villains.

I really like The Batman too, (including Batman vs. Dracula) it just didn't make it into my top 5. That being said, one thing I absolutely LOVED about "Batman vs. Dracula" was how DARK it was for an animated kids movie! Yeah, Under the Red Hood and Dark Knight Returns are dark, but are rated PG 13. Dracula, however, was the first FAMILY rated Batman film since Mask of the Phantasm to be SO dark.
For me, The Batman had it's ups and downs, but overall, I really liked it. And I agree, yeah, it's not one of the BEST, but I still really liked their interpretation of the Joker. But I have to say, I thought The Batman's version of Clayface was AMAZING, I loved that version of the villain :)

Great thread. I think the writing on the WB Batman and Justice league movies are so far superior to that of the live action DC movies. I love both parts of The Dark Knight Returns, Batman Year One, and Under the Red Hood. I really liked Return of the Joker but loved the flashback portions, especially the uncensored version -- very powerful stuff. I always found Terry's character one note but have since started to like it after the Justice League Unlimited Epilogue episode. It's been a while since I watched Subzero, The Batman Superman Movie and The Mystery of the Batwoman but Mask of the Phantasm does stick in my mind and I liked that well enough. But I am a huge fan of the recent animated movies. They just totally nail the Bruce Wayne/Batman character in their own ways. I also love the Justice League movies Doom and Crisis on Two Earths soley for Batman's depiction. Being the only one without super powers, lackluster writing would make Batman the weakest member of the League but to the contrary, the writing makes him one of the strongest, if not THE strongest character. I have New Fronteer but haven't watched that yet. I just don't understand why the live action movies can't have the level of great writing that these animated movies have. I'm very interested to see which graphic novel WB takes on next.
PS I've stayed away from Batman vs Dracula because the synopsis sounded like it wasn't an adaptation of Red Rain. Plus I never really got into The Batman series as I did Batman The Animated Series but I guess I'll have to give BvD a look.

I'd have to say that mine is always going to be Batman: Mask of the Phantasm. It has the best cast, best imagery and is the only one that was on the big screen. I saw it Christmas day when it came out and it was fantastic. The visuals of Batman and Joker fighting in a miniaturized Gotham City made them larger than life and was one of the best visuals showing exactly how important they are as pop-culture characters.
as for the others I think Under the Red Hood is the best of the straight to video Batman solo films.
