If it's crap ... We'll tell you

Joong posted a discussionI was just listening to some old stand-up comedy albums and realized that fat people are pretty much the last group of people that its politically correct to make fun of. And as much as i love a good fat joke, im kinda tired of how much shit fat people get from everyone...especially comedians. I simply do not get it, most of them are alcoholics and/or drug addicts...but being FAT, THAT's a disuse, and fat people should be ashamed of them-selfs @_@, for instance...Im a big fan of Bill Maher, love his stand-up albums and "Real time with..." show, and while he's a dope-head himself and drug-supporter, whenever he talks bout America's obesity problems it sound like every Fat americans decided to be fat just to piss him off, and to be perfectly honest i dont see how's heavy eating any diffrent from heavy drinking, or abusing drugs .
So my question for Spill community is, does obese people really deserve that much hate, and what's your view on "Obese America" problem ?
Yeah, well....try harder ;).
That's kind of a ignorance Im talking about, comics/games was an example how one thing leads to another with process of getting obese. You can get fat working behind a desk 12 -15 hours a day...does it make you irresponsible or lazy ? I dont think so.

''other just go play some video-games/read comic/do something else that doesn't require a lot of movement. Im a fat dude myself, and while other people played sports i was sitting at home and drawing...didnt really ate some extreme amount of chicken wings, all it took was hobby that didnt required much movement..''
Sounds to me like you were fat before having that job.
Another thing, don't you have free days? Is your schedule so busy that you can't take 15 fucking minutes in a day to do a small workout? Does it make you irresponsible and lazy? Yes it does.

Permalink Reply by Joong on May 27, 2011 at 10:16am Excuses, excuses, excuses. If you're trying to make fat people look bad, you're doing a mighty fine job.
I had a friend back when I first joined my boxing gym, he was fat, lazy, ugly, smelled like puke if you got near him, got made fun of, socially insecure, until he decided to come along with me, not only did he learned discipline, he lost all that extra weight and looked like a completely different person, not only looks wise, personality wise too, much more fun to hang around with him without feeling sorry for him, etc.
The choice is in your hands, being fat is NOT good for you, so stop being fat, fattie.
Think of all the pleasantries ahead, no longer will you give a shit about fat jokes, you will be healthy, and your overall lifestyle will improve. Hah, I sound like an infomercial now.

Permalink Reply by Joe The Moon Man on May 27, 2011 at 9:50pm Allow me to make a different point; Obesity never "snuck up" on anybody. Nobody wakes up fat. Fat people usually have a long time to lose weight before they become that heavy. I don't have a problem with fat people. I have a problem with accepting obesity. It IS something that can be helped, and it is extremely unhealthy. I used to be fat by the way, so I know what I'm talking about.
P.S. What job has you working 15 - 20 hour days? Because I think making your employees work that long is... illegal.
Permalink Reply by One Inch Punch on May 26, 2011 at 7:43pm Your real problem here is that you find Bill Maher funny.
In all seriousness, do you REALLY think that the obese are the only group that it's okay to make fun of? No, comedians make racial, sexual and political jokes all the time. Jokes about winos and the mentally ill and drug users are all open game as well. They don't care about what's PC, because it's just a dumb shorthard term invented by the media. If a presidential candidate made a joke about fat people, would it go over smoothly? A-nope!
The reason fat people catch so much flak is that the majority of obesity cases are caused by a combination of poor diet and lack of exercise. Genetics do play a part in obesity, but for the majority of them it is not some unstoppable force. Americans aren't too keen on mental health either, which can play a big role in weight problems (anorexia, bulimia, binge eating, depression etc.) and so that can affect fattie rates as well.
The thing is, every time comedian makes fun of black/gay/retarded people they do it, yet try to be respectful enough for people who are they making fun of, got a good laugh and at the same time dont get offended too much...but fat jokes can get mean to the level of Michael Richards screaming "he's a nigger" and nobody really gives a shit...it doesnt even get that "oooo" audience reaction whenever comedian makes some controversial joke.
Permalink Reply by One Inch Punch on May 26, 2011 at 11:27pm Once again, not really. Most ribald comics treat the focus of their jokes in an equally vile fashion. There's plenty of Muslim/black/Hispanic/gay/retarded jokes that are in poor taste and not at all "respectful". Hell, Gilbert Gottfried made fun of a Jewish women whose parents died in Buchenwaltz for half an hour on Howard Stern. Right to her face.
In that vein, there are also many comedians who tell mild fat jokes. Some of them are overweight to a certain degree, so it's self-deprecation as well. I'm having trouble thinking of more than one comedian who made a really nasty fat joke, and George Carlin was not selective in his vitriol.Your Michael Richards example isn't really valid either, as he wasn't making some risque joke about black people, but was literally calling them niggers for heckling him.
You have a severe persecution complex about your weight. The obese are not universally despised or repressed, especially in the USA. From your other posts it appears that you feel video games and comic book reading make you incompatible with physical activity, which is a real shame. Plenty of people enjoy nerdy things and also keep in somewhat good shape. All in moderation.
Ok, Kramer was just yelling racist stuff, all Im saying is that some comedians can get that level of hate with their fat-jokes and people wont give a shit enough to even get somewhat uncomfortable while comedian gets really really mean toward a group of people that he doesn't really have reason to hate.
And as for my video-game/comic example, im starting to think something was lost in translation while ive wrote it....i didnt said (wrote) that reading comics makes you incompatible with physical activities, all ive said was that if the ONLY hobbies you have are the ones that doesn't require you to get up...you will get fat.
