I just started playing this while I was waiting for work to role around. I like it. I like that you get to choose what you say to people and whatnot....but did I ever hit a learning curve.
For hours it's nothing but wandering around, talking to people, killing the occasional giant roach, ugly rat-thing, or feeble vault guard. Then what happens? Some huge guy with a flamethrower and his bloodthirsty dog!
Could and would are fine, but you're missing the should in there.
Bethesda should have put more effort into developing the game than being colossal attention whores about the license.
Bethesda simply didn't try to do anything similar to what development studios have in the past, with 1/3 of the people Bethesda put into their "effort", and this includes Bethesda's own history. They are simply not the same company anymore, and folks need to realize that. Those who made TES special are gone, leaving the amateurs to play.
Just like there's no excuse for a big-name director to hand a sequel rights to a movie series to his clinically brain-dead nephew to shoot on a home cam, there's no reason why Interplay decided to license out Fallout to Bethesda when far more qualified people would have been in order. Such as the folks who made Fallout in the first place. Unfortunately Interplay not only screwed them over, but also screwed over BioWare/Black Isle/Obsidian, to neatly exclude just about the only CRPG authors in the industry outside of the indie developers that have the ambition and attention to detail to the level of Fallout.
Well, if you count how poorly Interplay's been knocked into the dirt under the direction of the Caen brothers, Bethesda was simply the best they could get. This still doesn't absolve Bethesda from their obligation of making a sequel instead of a crappy Oblivion mod.
This isn't as bad as it could have been, but it's still no Fallout, which is what should be used to grade this game. If it's not even going to pretend to be in the same series...then what's the point?
I purposely don't play the Main Story Missions in any RPG I like to run around and kill everything I possibly can first...Once the Main Story is over I have a hard time continuing to play.
I just picked up my copy last night so I haven't even begun...In the past 2 weeks I bought NBA Live 09, Fable 2, Gears of War 2, MK vs DC, and Fall out so I have a lot of gaming to do....All these great games came out too close together....but anyway I had that similar experience with Oblivion Elder Scrolls IV once you level up your character its hard to find a challenge, but then they came out with the expansion pack with 50 more hours of gameplay....Do you think Fall out will come out with an Expansion pack?
I am the same as Kiz. I have been playing Fallout for what I would have to guestimate to be 30 hrs and I have still not done my first quest for Three Dog.
