If it's crap... We'll tell you

It's out in Japan, and wish I was there. Evangelion 2.0 hit theaters.

My favorite title has gotten a complete re-boot, and is being released as a movie trilogy. I often gush about how much I love this series, but always know, it's not something that I can just casually recommend to some one, as the pay off comes from watching the entire show from start to End of Evangelion, and that's a VERY long road to travel, for casual interest. But the buzz is, this new 2.0 movie is fantastic, and finally, I feel I have something I can point to, and say, watch this because it's awesome!
Now my only concern is do I wait for it to come here, or break down and hit the Internet for a download.

I know, it's not really all THAT new, but from my perspective, I'm trying to show people that haven't seen it already, how great it can be. The tv format really hurts it's appeal, so formatting it into a movie just makes sense to reach a broader audience.

That may be so, but this reboot is also a chance at redemption for the show: Name me any one of Eva's endings; then tell me they aren't absolute shit. Yeah, it can be a bit of a pickle to pinpoint such an ending.

With the track record, I ain't holding my breath, but I'm trying to be hopeful.

Lol, so true. Another reason I can't recommend the original so broadly. I edit it in my mind, by watching the original movie, then the moment they enter Lilith, I substitute with the last 2 episodes, and upon congratulations, go back to the real world. God, the things they ask the audience to do are completely unreasonable, but I still love it.

Unless that "broader audience" learned it's lessons FROM the TV Shows and realize they aren't really doing anything "new" with the storyline overall, just giving a "prettier" face to it. Like Q says, it's a great series that got SERIOUSLY hurt by the constant shitty endings.

I think by now it's probably reached the broadest audience it possibly can.

The people who attend theater screenings of anime movies are most likely anime fans already.

If you're an anime fan already, you've probably heard of the little show called Evangelion.

Does this in any way explain what the fuck happened in the first series?

2.0? Probably. I'm resisting the temptation to download for the time being. The internet copy of 1.0 kinda spoiled it a bit for me. Guess it depends how many years it takes them to import it. With 1.0 done, I'm hoping, not all that long.

I'm hoping for a subbed version for 2.0 soon because I'm tempted to watch the RAW version despite the new scenes.

Can't wait for this... And if I wait until it arrives to theaters in Venezuela, I'll be waiting for all my life.

So, download it is!!!

I hated both endings (the series and the movies), so i hope they make it better with this reboot.
