Not as lovely as you might have guessed.

Girl watches bad family drama while in another deminsion:

After her brutal rape and murder, young Susan Salmon narrates as she looks back at her life. How is this possible you might ask, well her spirit is alive in her own version of heaven which sometimes is hell to look at. Another girl about Susan's age (Also dead) tells her this is not heaven and she is not quite there yet and she must leave the world of the living behind. But young Susan who hasn't even had the chance to kiss her school crush wants to see her murderer suffer...Oh and for her family to heal and move on but also to get revenge. It's not exactly a spoiler if I tell you who the murderer is because he's in the trailer and if you read the book you'd know too but I won't say here just in case you still want to see this.

What gets me is how Susie could have been able to trust this guy and follow him. Sure it's a different time (1973) but this guy looks creepy, talks creepy and acts creepy. If it was you at fourteen would you be like, "Oh he's just another guy in the neighbourhood what could possibly go wrong?"

After the cops give up their search after only finding Susie's hat, Dad steps into action but not just any Dad, "1973 Mark Wahlberg Dad!" Obssesed to find out what, where, who, and not really caring why. He'll solve this case even if it means tearing a part the family and making his wife scream "Why can't you just leave it alone!?" What's Susie doing while all of this is happening? Oh right she's watching them, but when she's not she's creating a whole new world, imagining she's at a photoshoot or creating giant ice sculptors and sometimes laughable CG (The dogsled thing will make you want to get up and leave). Mostly she walks from one vision to another which will make you wonder why she can't fly or just teleport there (But hey she can manipulate the living). But fear not the second half is somewhat better than the first, Grandma Susan Sanrandon comes into help take care of the kids but mostly mess up the house and not really add anything to the cast. I won't ruin the ending even though it's the most cop out ending I've ever seen but you'll laugh, unless you're easily sensitive or really young.

Did I hate it?

No

Did I love it?

No.

Do I recommend it?

It really all depends, you should see this at home if you're really that curious but there's nothing here I can say is worthwhile even the CG which is just there in between all of the family drama. Sarandon was right by the way, about what Jackson created with this movie, which I almost hate to admit. So when it goes wide on the 15th make up your mind or just read or re-read the book.

Oh yeah and when the other girl tells Susie that she's finally in Heaven you'll be wondering what's so great about it or just be dissapointed.

I fucking hated this film.
Peter Jackson took all the emotional stuff that was in the book and replaced it in the film with boring CG showing Susie in Limbo.
This film makes everything that happens in the film not feel important. You just watch a bunch of bad shit happen for 2 hours and you don't care about it.
I'm going to watch it with an open mind and judge it like an American Eagle of justice.
