Permalink Reply by Id0ntknow on January 9, 2013 at 12:16pm Glitches, at the time of release, made the game almost unplayable. I did beat it, but only after much trouble.
I recall, when trying to get the sheriff, I had a quest giver glitch through the ceiling. I had to jump and time pressing A at just the right time to get ahold of the quest.
Another quest giver was killed by wasps. I never did figure out what that quest was for, but it was near a still. I wanted that damn quest.
Have not played it since, couldn't tell you if patches make it any better.
If you are playing on PC an can be bothered to mod it, I highly recommend it. Modded New Vegas is one of my favorite (possibly my absolute favorite) games on my PC.
Permalink Reply by Joong on January 10, 2013 at 4:50pm Would you recommend doing a playthrough without mods for the first run? I'll assume the interface is every bit as terrible as previous Bethesda games, so that's the only thing I can see myself changing for the first run.
Permalink Reply by George Knight on January 10, 2013 at 9:12pm It's better with mods.
If you don't like Bethesda games though, you won't like this. (As you've most likely already played it several times. Oblivion with guns and such.)
Permalink Reply by Joong on January 11, 2013 at 12:10am No, but... Well, I mean. It's fairly obvious that mods will make it better, but, for my first playthrough, should I play it without them? How good is the vanilla experience?
My major complaint with Fallout 3 was that just like Oblivion, the combat was dull and boring. It's really unacceptable for an RPG to offer nothing more than shoot/slash that thing until it stops moving. Since it's Obsidian though, I was hoping they would improve that aspect a lot more.
Permalink Reply by George Knight on January 11, 2013 at 1:08am The writing is better, but the gameplay is pretty much the same... but buggier because LOL OBSIDIAN!
