I know it's pretty early to be asking this, but I just went through a list for the movies of 2012, and I honestly don't think it looks all that promising. There are a few films that look promising, and yet, like these past several years, there are so many sequels, remakes, and 3D films coming out, most of which will probably be soulless cash-grabs. What are your thoughts?

Oh man. I kinda miss that Chucky G Can Suck It! guy.

Or an orangutan with a kool-aid coloured ballsack hopping on a hard-on.

So, since it's November now, I thought it would be appropriate to bring this thread back. Here are some of the movies I'm looking forward to in 2012:

Project X

Chronicle

The Dark Knight Rises

American Reunion

The Avengers

The Amazing Spider-Man

Django Unchained

The Hobbit

- The Dark Knight Rises (Nolan)

- The Avengers (Whedon)

- Brave (Andrews/Chapman)

- Lincoln (Spielberg)

- Prometheus (Scott)

- Skyfall (Mendes)

- Django Unchained (Tarantino)

- Ted (MacFarlane)

- Jack the Giant Killer (Singer)

- Dark Shadows (Burton)

Still not sure about Project X, The Raven, MIB 3, American Reunion, or Abraham Lincoln, Vampire Hunter yet.

Nonetheless, that's quite a healthy number of films for 2012.

Here are some movies I am waiting for in 2012:

The Hobbit Part 1: An Unexpected Journey

Madagascar 3

Ice Age: Continental Drift

The Avengers

Underworld: Awakening

Men in Black III

The Amazing Spider-Man

The Raven

Les Miserables

Lincoln

Avengers, Spidey, DKR

shut up and take my money

Okay, having seen that new trailer, The Dark Knight Rises is now my most anticipated film of 2012.

Jesus Christ yes.

Am I the only comic fan NOT looking forward to TDKR? Sorry, but the trailer looks so colorless and bland...so...uninteresting. Before you fans get your undies in a twist, I am. Ot saying it will be bad or good...just that I'm not convinced yet to pay money for this, and on a personal level I was more impressed with Begins than TDK.

So far, Avengers and the Hobbit are the only films I want to see this year. The rest I care little or have not heard enough to care yet. Prove me wrong, folks.

2012 is looking very promising, you have:

-"Cogan's Trade" directed by Andrew Dominik ("The Assassination of Jesse James"), which is a mob drama starring Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini and Ben Mendelsohn.

-"Only God Forgives" directed by Nicholas Winding Refn ("Drive") which is expected to get a 2012 release. It stars Ryan Golsing and about a Bangkok police officer and gangster "settling their differences in a Thai-boxing match". Odd plot, but it is Refn.

-"The Burial" directed by Terrence Malick ("The Tree of Life") also expected to get a 2012 release, and is a romance starring Ben Affleck and Rachel MacAdams.

-"Argo" directed by Ben Affleck ("The Town") starring Affleck, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman and Kyle Chandler as a group of CIA agents who go under cover as a film crew to rescue Americans hiding in Iran during its revolution.

-"Seven Psychopaths" directed by Martin McDonagh ("In Brudges") starring Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, Abbie Cornish and Christopher Walken about a screenwriter who gets caught in a dangerous plot to kidnap...a dog.

-"Gravity" directed by Alfonso Cuaron ("Children of Men"), a minimalist space-drama starring George Clooney and Sandra Bullock.

-"Prometheus" directed by Ridley Scott ("Alien") in his return to sci-fi, a space thriller/horror starring Michael Fassbender, Charlize Theron, Idris Elba and Noomi Rapace.

-"Wettest County" direct John Hillcoat ("The Road"), a depression era gangster film, starring Tom Hardy, Jessica Chastain, Gary Oldman, Guy Pearce and Shia LeBeouf.

-"Lincoln" directed Steven Speilberg ("Schindler's List"), a Abraham Lincoln biopic starring Daniel Day Lewis as Lincoln, with a supporting cast including Joseph Gordon Levitt, Jared Harris, Tommy Lee Jones, Lee Pace, John Hawkes, Walter Goggins, and Sally Fields.

-"The Dark Knight Rises" directed Christopher Nolan ("The Dark Knight"), his conclusion to his Batman trilogy, starring Christain Bale, Anne Hathaway, Tom Hardy, Michael Caine, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Marion Cotiliard.

-"The Hobbit" directed by Peter Jackson ("Lord of the Rings"), Jackson returns to the world of Tolkien, starring Martin Freeman,  Sir Ian McKellen, Cate Blanchett, Andy Serkis, Hugo Weaving, and many others.

-"Les Miserables" directed by Tom Hooper ("The Kings Speech") adaptation of the musical starring Anne Hathaway, Hugh Jackman, Russell Crowe and Sasha Baron Cohen.

-"Django Unchained" directed by Quetin Tarantino ("Inglorious Basterds"), western starring Joseph Gordon Levitt, Jamie Foxx, Leonardo DiCaprio, Samuel L. Jackson, Christoph Waltz, and Kurt Russell.

-"Skyfall" directed by Sam Mendes ("Road to Pedition") next installment of the Bond, starring Daniel Craig, Ralph Fiennes and Javier Bardem.

-"The Great Gatsby" directed by Baz Luhrmann ("Moulin Rouge"), adaption of the famous novel starring Leonardo DiCaprio, Carey Mulligan and Tobey Maguire.

-"The Hunger Games" directed by Gary Ross ("Seabiscuit"), adaptation of the popular young adult novel starring Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci and Josh Hutcherson.

-"The Avengers" directed by Joss Whedon ("Serenity") the long awaited superhero film starring Robert Downey Jr., Christ Hemsworth, Chris Evans, Mark Ruffalo, Samuel L. Jackson, Jeremy Renner and Tom Hiddleston.

-"Brave", Pixar's ("Toy Story") next animated film, a Medieval drama.

-"The Amazing Spider-Man" directed by Marc Webb ("500 Days of Summer"), reboot of the popular superhero, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Rhys Ifans, Dennis Leary, Martin Sheen and Sally Fields.

-"Looper" directed by Rian Johnson ("The Brothers Bloom"), a time traveling action flick starring Joseph Gordon Levitt, Bruce Willis and Emily Blunt.

-"Gangster Squad" directed by Ruben Fleischer ("Zombieland") period piece cop drama starring Josh Brolin, Sean Penn, Ryan Gosling, Emma Stone and Nick Nolte.

-"Coriolanus" directed by Ralph Fiennes, a modern day Shakespeare adaption starring Ralph Fiennes, Gerard Butler, Jessica Chastain, Brian Cox and Vanessa Redgrave.

-"Haywire" directed by Steven Soderbergh ("Traffic") action thriller starring Gina Carano, Michael Fassbender, Ewan McGregor, Antonio Banderas and Michael Douglas.

-"The Grandmasters" directed by Kar Wai Wong ("In The Mood For Love") a new film about the life of Ip Man.

There are quite a few films there for both film buffs and the average moviegoer looking for a good blockbuster. Plus there are always a few that are in production/yet to be announced that could get late 2012 releases and then there are the inevitable Sundance/Film Festival darlings and foreign films that come out of nowhere and are big hits.

Epic list. Can't wait to see "Only God Forgives"
