Does 2012 look promising for films?
I know it's pretty early to be asking this, but I just went through a list for the movies of 2012, and I honestly don't think it looks all that promising. There are a few films that look promising, and yet, like these past several years, there are so many sequels, remakes, and 3D films coming out, most of which will probably be soulless cash-grabs. What are your thoughts?

Nonetheless, that's quite a healthy number of films for 2012.

Am I the only comic fan NOT looking forward to TDKR? Sorry, but the trailer looks so colorless and bland...so...uninteresting. Before you fans get your undies in a twist, I am. Ot saying it will be bad or good...just that I'm not convinced yet to pay money for this, and on a personal level I was more impressed with Begins than TDK.
So far, Avengers and the Hobbit are the only films I want to see this year. The rest I care little or have not heard enough to care yet. Prove me wrong, folks.

2012 is looking very promising, you have:
-"Cogan's Trade" directed by Andrew Dominik ("The Assassination of Jesse James"), which is a mob drama starring Brad Pitt, Ray Liotta, James Gandolfini and Ben Mendelsohn.
-"Only God Forgives" directed by Nicholas Winding Refn ("Drive") which is expected to get a 2012 release. It stars Ryan Golsing and about a Bangkok police officer and gangster "settling their differences in a Thai-boxing match". Odd plot, but it is Refn.
-"The Burial" directed by Terrence Malick ("The Tree of Life") also expected to get a 2012 release, and is a romance starring Ben Affleck and Rachel MacAdams.
-"Argo" directed by Ben Affleck ("The Town") starring Affleck, Bryan Cranston, John Goodman and Kyle Chandler as a group of CIA agents who go under cover as a film crew to rescue Americans hiding in Iran during its revolution.
-"Seven Psychopaths" directed by Martin McDonagh ("In Brudges") starring Colin Farrell, Woody Harrelson, Sam Rockwell, Abbie Cornish and Christopher Walken about a screenwriter who gets caught in a dangerous plot to kidnap...a dog.

There are quite a few films there for both film buffs and the average moviegoer looking for a good blockbuster. Plus there are always a few that are in production/yet to be announced that could get late 2012 releases and then there are the inevitable Sundance/Film Festival darlings and foreign films that come out of nowhere and are big hits.
