Well the animated feature which has been in the works since '01 and features a star filled cast has bombed in the box-office making only $500,000 it's opening weekend with a 2,000+ screen release.

With such a massive bomb for a 3D animated feature it'll probably put a wrench in the works for independent 3D animation studios producing feature length productions.

Korey's SO gotta review this. This was made back in 2001, but got SCREWED HARD and has come out wayyy after Shrek. THAT'S why it looks so dated.
I knew this movie would bomb. It was suppost to come out a long time ago but no one would back it because of the stupid idea behind it. It's sad, but thats what you get for not getting it out there.

Same thing happened to the
Ten Commandments" :

This looks like one of those fake trailers they put at the beginning of a movie, where mid-scene you hear a ringing sound, the scene stops, and the main character grumpily informs the audience to turn their phones off.

I'm shocked it even made half a million....
lol, why wasn't this just released on dvd or something. I only just saw the commercials a few days ago. Other than that, this movie just seemed to come out of nowhere....
The graphics look like they're from a half-decent kiddie video game . . . but before the stories about it bombing, I'd never even heard of it. I'm not surprised it flopped.
I think the reason it tanked was because no one had heard of it until they heard it bombed. Does anyone remember any advertising for it?

Why it was released in so many theaters is something I think that only the clinically insane will understand.
That's a shame. They've been trying to release the film for about 6 years, and apparently without any kind of payoff. I was hoping this would do okay, but I think it lacked serious marketing. I guess in the time it took to get a release, the technology got better and better, so it does look a bit dated, but being a 3d artist, I can see the incredible amount of effort and hard work that went into this. I feel for them.
I hope it doesn't hinder the independent 3d studios, but I guess it's hard to compete with Dreamworks and Pixar, and a saturated market that caters to kids.
I want to see more independent 3d stuff like Renaissance, you know, more adult-oriented.
7 years, and they didn't plan on advertising the film?

No wonder it bombed.
Bad marketing, and for what I've read the movie is really bad, so, it has nothing on it's favor.
never eve heard of this movie..till now..

It really is a setback for independant 3D animation studios. a shame, really.

I still can't see how it got 2,000 screens
