In my opinion, I cannot choose. Both have their goals in a way and I think both accomplished them. The Avengers goal was just to work. It needed to be a superhero movie that DID NOT fall apart with its superhero teamup idea, that is thanks to Joss Whedon's smart writing and directing. Dark Knight Rises needed to be an epic finale to what is hands down the best live action interpretation of Batman, and also succeeded with that. I cannot choice. The true winner(s) is/are: US, the viewers and comic book geeks.

It's like apples and oranges, man. The Avengers is the epitome of the summer blockbuster: big, special-effects laden, blowin' shit up, fun. The Dark Knight Rises is almost the opposite. They're both perfect in their own special ways, and I love them both equally. There's no need to pit one against the other.

What I was going to say. It's like comparing apples and oranges. Both movies were designed differently, executed differently, and marketed to different types of audiences. Not to mention the "built-in" audiences of both movies were completely different from each other as far as "mind-set going in". I didn't expect the Avenger's movie to be the same tone, or subject matter, as the Batman movie.

Exactly especially since Avengers involve a big green, rage monster, aliens, gods, and a man from the 1940s. So yeah do people REALLY need to compare the two?

I perfered DKR, but it's comparing apples and oranges. They're almost not the same genre of film even.

Avengers had better action and spectacle and was funnier

Dark Knight Rises was an introspective character piece with huge internal conflicts that resolved a three movie long character arc.

I loved both movie's sooooo much and i WILL see them again and again buuuut.......i loved the Spider-Man more by a littelbit more i gess it is becuse i thaught it was gonna be BAAAAAAD and i knew batman and Avengers was gonna be GOOD if i had to pick one.......BATMAN and both are super good!

I think they are both great films.  I'm only siding with The Dark Knight Rises over avengers because I know would have a complete awesome trilogy of films to enjoy the heck out of time and time again mean while I can only really enjoy the Avengers as a single movie.  Sure you can argue that the (5?) Marvel films prior to the Avengers are great and can be enjoyed but...you would be wrong.  Iron Man 2 especially is a complete wad compared to all the Batman Films.

Anwyays, before I go on a Rant.  The Dark Knight Rises as apart of the Epic story Nolan has created tops The Avengers in my eyes.

They were both extremely boring and overall bad movies, but in my opinion, The Avengers had way worse fight scenes, therefore worse.

I can't compare the two. I love them both.

Now that time has passed.

Cone on...is this even a debate.

Rises mopped the floor with the Avengers and didnt bother to wash the dirt filled towel.

Sure Avengers was great and all but even in its own world Avengers falls apart logically on repeat viewings.

And TDKR is the exact opposite, On rewatches it only gets stronger. Seen it three times now and I can conclude that the movie's consistency is AIR-TIGHT PEEWEE
