'CREATURE FROM THE BLACK LAGOON', Re-Make Anyone?
As one of the classic Universal Monsters ever concieved, Jack Arnold's 1954 tale of horror of a prehistoric beast lurking beneath the waters of the Amazonian jungle seems to have been lost in the depths for the past 50 years. Although this may have been a good thing since audiences' spotlights have been mainly focused on the superheroes of this century, this could possibly be the redemption the creature needs. If Universal can allign it's back-bone, pour it's heart and soul into this project, maybe they can convince the world of cinema (once again) that the CREATURE LIVES!
So Spillios, what's your take? Should 'The Creature' reclaim his title as a horror icon in a re-make?

it's still a fucking great film so why not show it to the new generatons?? why does it have to be all shiney and new to appeal to them?
REMAKES ARE 99% OF THE TIME A BAD IDEA!
and 1% might be overgenerous
and 'align it's backbone' by remaking another film? HA! growing a pair and making something new would be a better idea wouldn't ya think?

Yes i would love to see a remake of this. The creature from the Black Lagoon is my favorite of the universal monster films and i want to see what they can do with it now. I know the original was great and in some eyes time less, but the original will still be there when the new one is made. It is not like they are taking every copy of the original film and destroying them so no one will ever seen then again.

the more we appease them by paying to watch remakes the more complacent they'll get and just churn out more and more. don't you want hollyweird to make original movies anymore?

I agree with you 100% Hollywood will keep making remakes because more times then not they make money, also the remakes and blockbusters are mostly for the general move goers anyways. Hollywood still does make original movies still but they aren't main stream like Cabin in the Woods that was a original idea but the studio did not know how to market it to the general people. It sucks but true film fans need to look under rocks and back alleys to see a good film now. General movie goers out number the people looking for original content by a large margin. Bottom line money talks.

No what i said was the General movie goers out number true film fans. Just wondering are you a general or a film fan? I hate remakes of old stuff, 9 out of 10 times i won't go see a remake. But if it is a remake of something i love i will check it out to see with my own eyes. I want to see if the person doing the remake loves the property like i do or they are there just to make a quick buck. I am a film fan but i'm not a old snub film fan that is not opened to changes in the business of film.
