If it's crap... We'll tell you

Anyone else excited for this movie coming out this friday? I wasn't too excited until I saw a Clip on Conan O'Brien in which he goes crazy with snowballs. Started looking the clips and it doesn't look too bad, it's no Up but it's better than Ice Age. They kill the source material but that's not always a horrible thing...

If anyone can find that clip, mind posting it? I can't find it at all.

Wow, I have to admit that clip was actually really funny.

Yeah, right! I was thinking about ignoring this one until it came out on DVD but now I'm curious and watching a lot of the clips and the cast got me all interested. Bill Hader, Anna Feris and Mr. T all seem like solid reasons to watch it.

I have to see it anyways for review purposes, and I knew from the start they weren't being faithful to the source material, so I'm just going to see if the movie holds up on it's own, cause that's what's important.

From what I've seen, it looks interesting. I don't think I'll get a chance for this one (The Informant! and Jennifer's Body are higher on my list this weekend), but it seems well-executed, which is more than I can say for most live-action films I've seen this year.

Jennifer's Body is above?! WHAT?

I know it's been catching a lot of flack on the forums from those who have read the screenplay, but that is only one element of a film. For my money, it's not even the most important element. Great storytelling makes stories great, not the other way around. (Case in point: picture Children Of Men directed by Michael Bay. Or Armageddon directed by a young John Carpenter, for that matter.)

Most of what I've heard from those who have actually seen the film sounds promising enough, though not outstanding. (Ebert: "It's not art, [...] but as a movie about a flesh-eating cheerleader, it's better than it has to be.")

I'm curious to see how screenplays are translated by different directors, and Cody is a perfect case study to consider. Like Tarantino, she has a voice all her own. Also like Tarantino, sometimes her voice obscures that of the characters. Without Reitman and Page to lean on, I'm wondering how the material will hold up (although, to be fair, Kusama is supposed to be a great director in her own right). I'm not "psyched" for it, but I am curious.

There are also more pragmatic reasons, as I'm probably going to watch the two films in one trip with a friend who isn't interested in seeing Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs.

I used to read the book this was based on almost everyday in 3rd grade. I don't know if I wanna pay for a ticket to see this movie, but that little bit with the rat bird made me fall over laughing.

Seen it, loved it. It's charming, it's inspiring, the animation's really neat to look at, and it's hilarious for kids and adults alike. My favorite animated film of the year? That used to be a two-way tie between Coraline and Up, but now, it's a three-way tie. :P

This is the debut production of JackandZack Films. It's a comedy about a legendary cult-film director, Jack Gattanella, who is making his latest film "Crest of Senses", and taking his two stars Zack and Hayley down into the depths of madness.

Matt, Jack & Jon are three eloquent young gents. They philosophize, externalize, and harmonize on the most pressing subjects of the modern age. Actually, they mostly just talk about movies and current events, but the presentation is what counts.
