See the topic title, I thought of this topic after hearing about Dom Deluise's death, as I loved his performances in Don Bluth's films.
Mine are:
Dom Deluise (RIP Tiger of An American Tail.)
Heather O' Rourke (Of the Poltergeist movies, she was only 12 too....)
Bea Arthur and Estelle Getty (Watching the Golden Girls just won't be the same...)
Judith Barsi (The original Ducky in The Land Before time, and she was in ADGTH. She was only 10 when she was killed by her father.)
For me, its Paul Newman. I recently watched Cool Hand Luke again and, I'll admit, I teared up quite a bit by the end. I remember seeing an "In Memoriam" montage on Turner Classic Movies last year, and Paul Newman was at the end of it. I always got chills when I saw it. Watching movies won't be quite the same knowing he's not around anymore. He was and IS an American Icon.
Not much of a celebrity but Stan Winston will always be the one famous person death when I actually felt a part of me die off. His work inspired me, and now knowing he's no longer around to continue his amazing talent...saddens me..
I'm with you on this one. I recently watched a special FX documentary that was great...then at the end it said "In the Loving Memory of Stan Winston" and I literally got teary-eyed.
