I this it's less about Call of Duty being Activision's cash cow, and more about it being "realistic" and overly serious as opposed to Bulletstorm that is balls out crazy. It's kind of weird how Epic is making Bulletstorm out to be the messiah of unrealistic shooters coming to save us from decades of CoD. Sure, there's been a trend of war shooters the last couple of years, but it's not like a crazy, unrealistic shooter is something new, it barely classifies as refreshing.

 

Still, it's a damn funny ad. If you're gonna throw a punch at a competitor, why stop at a few sour comments? Go all the way! :D

Hmmm I think if Treyarch did that it'd come across as being a bit petulant especially seeing as they aren't actually releasing a new game anytime soon. I'd also wager it'd be less funny and far reaching because CoD is so pop culture, far more so than Gears ever was, as well as that Gears is almost a parody in itself (I was never the biggest Gears fan).

Let us not also forget that Call of Duty is the market leader for FPSs, so it makes them fair game for lampooning. Never seen this sort of thing done by another developer though.

That's not funny guys.

 

You know, it really pisses me off how people bash Call of Duty for no reason. They're one of the most creative developers out there, if you fail to see that it just shows how much of a failure you and your face is.

 

I mean think about it, they've pretty much done everything that's right on the gaming industry, like invented online for shooters and stuff, also I bet you can't find a shooter as realistic AND immersive as CoD, HAHA! Bet you can't huh? Also, fucking zombies! name me another shooter who's had zombies on their game? This just goes to show how unique their games are which is quite impressive considering how they have to make a sequel every year.

 

They've inspired me on to creating games as well, and thus I've already started working on a game in the heart of CoD, it's still a work in progress but I've tried to gather all the characteristics that make their game characters so great, so I will show you just a tiny piece of how fucking badass my game is going to be.

My character is a cold, deadly yet emotional all at the same time.

I played it on the 360 and the controls weren't any better. It has that shitty low-budget FPS feel to the controls where they just float all over the place. Not to mention the presentation was just irritating. Its a fine line between so bad it's good and just bad. They were clearly aiming for one but hit the other.

It's kind of disappointing because People Can Fly have already proven they can make a great over the top wacky oldschool shooter with painkiller. Oh well, I guess they just don't mix well with EPIC.

Saw the video and enjoyed it.

 

I think Call of Duty are good games, but not great.

 

As for Gears of War and Bulletstorm I can appreciate them, not every game needs to be serious and realistic.  I like games that go over the top and just are fun.  Of course when they tried to insert some serious story-telling in the game in the form of Dom's wife it did fail miserably.
