"I’m predicting that DC Comics new caped crusader will be more along the lines of Christopher Nolan’s version of the Dark Knight."
Wasn't Bruce Wayne already like that?

Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah..... And Superman is dead too.
Look, let's be honest. There is NO WAY they can make the Batman Series WITHOUT Bruce Wayne as the character. Sure, they will have a storyline or two where the Batman is taken over by someone new or even have the "Robin" character run the scam of stepping into the shoes of Batman for awhile. But with all the hype, the connections, and the fan-base... Batman/Bruce will never be apart for long. It may take a year or so, but they will have him back.
This is the reason I stopped reading comics to begin with. I got tired of all the ret-cons, re-launches, re-boots, cross-overs, what-ifs and Universe changing storylines.
Just give a few months, when sales fall, they will be back together.
Don't bash the what-ifs, some of the best stories are what-ifs. Two spring to mind: Superman: Red Sun and Kingdom Come. Marvel as a series dedicated to what-ifs, and some of the stories are rather amazing. The rest I can agree with you on, but what-ifs can make pretty good standalone stories.

This new isn't exactly news.....I've known about this for a few months now.
I honestly don't think DC will kill batman off for too long, they did that same thing to Superman. And after how much of a mistake that was they brought him back. Bruce Wayne will return as Batman eventually

I did go, "WTF!?" when I heard it say "Batman retires." Geez, talk about making old things new. We went through this with Knightfall and Batman Beyond. Though different situations, still the same premise: Bruce Wayne isn't Batman anymore. Turns out if comics want to be sold, Bruce Wayne as Batman is the way to go. Believe me, they'll find a way to make Wayne Batman again.
Till then, I'm not seeing the change as permanent, or even relevant. As I understand it, Batman R.I.P. predates Final Crisis chronologically. Unless of course, I missed something completely, Batman is still around.
Batman RIP does predate it but several Bat-titles reference in their solicits the lack of Bruce Wayne and one is even called "Battle For The Cowl", actually.
It would seem Batman gets out of R.I.P. decently enough only to meet his "final" fate in Crisis. I hope its a little different than that. Even I won't defend Morrison having the end of his Batman story in a different book.

Let's just make one thing clear: Grant Morrison has said what happens to Batman is a fate "worse than death." Almost to say death is too easy a result. And when Morrison refers to this story, it's always referred to as Batman R.I.P. Not Batman Rest in Peace, but R.I.P. We won't know the significance of that until the end. But by all accounts, something tells me that Batman won't be killed. It's not like Joe Quesada is running DC Comics.
This group is for those who read the comics and loved the cartoon.Which by the way in my opinion are kinda underrated but that's just me.So tell me what you think.
