The Metal Gear Solid series, so far, has the best storyline in the history of gaming. Never played Zelda, but I heard it has a nice story as well. Shenmue could've been the best game ever had it not been cancelled, but it left its fans hanging after the Dreamcast was shut down. If you're a fan of Star Wars, you would probably have a good time playing Star Wars: The Force Unleashed, awesome storyline with great voice acting. The ending of that game was just amazing.

Though my personal favorite would have to be Assassin's Creed, it's shaping up to be an innovative time-traveling action-adventure with a decent plot.

I think he left out the most important part of his statement:

I played this a while after it came out. So the graphics were extremely dated and right before I was going to turn it off the "turning point" in the story happened and I couldn't look away. By all accounts this game sucks even for the period it was released: bad graphics, repetitive fighting game play, n the camera can get on ur nerves. But the story and cut scenes were amazing. It was like watching and interacting in a kung-fu movie. great twists and memorable characters.

This is one of the first games I got with my original Xbox, and I really did have fun with it. I thought I was the only one, but I’m glad to see another liked it as well.

Best game story ever:

Deus Ex, it's cyberpunk done right. Major subplots change depending on your actions, it creates a detailed world complete with; symbolism, layers, mysteries, conspiracies, great characters, dialogue, and to date is the only video game I consider literature.
(It was first made for the PC)
