Alice in Chains and Soundgarden.  that's about it for me.

Big Soundgarden fan, and still am. And I do enjoy me some Alice.

Damn, I can't think of any other Alternative bands that I love.

Mostly just either progressive, or multi-genera bands.

Ah, you mean when most of the 80s "alternative" bands signed to major labels like Geffen etc? in the process producing substandard work IMO.

I forgot about the Butthole Surfers!  Shit, my band used to play Who was in My Room last Night.  I did like Tad and Stompbox too.

I was actually born on the first day of the 90's, January 1st, 1990! So its pretty fucking cool how some of my favorite music came from that time:

Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, Smashing Pumpkins, Jane's Addiction, Nine Inch Nails, Stone Temple Pilots, The Pixies, Beck, Elliott Smith, Tool, Faith No More, Radiohead, Foo Fighters, Pavement, and more that I'm forgetting right now. Sonic Youth and Dinosaur Jr would have made the list except that I consider their best work to be their 80's albums.

Love butthole surfers with the song pepper ^_^, alice in chains, soundgarden, sublime, Nirvana to name a few woot! F'ing love the 90s =D

I could go on and probably will later
