For those of you who haven't heard yet. The free demo for this game has been released on the Playstation Store and will be up on XBL tomorrow.
So far, this is looking like one of, if not the best Batman game ever released. It's an action, stealth game where the Joker has taken control of the asylum and released all the criminals. So of course, Batman arrives to lock them all back up. It features the voices used from the critically acclaimed animated series.
The game will release later this month on PS3 and XBox360, with a PC release next month.
I've heard a number of good things about the demo so I'm currently downloading it. Will post my thoughts on it later and would like to hear some of the other Spill gamers' opinions when they get the chance to try. Maybe even some that have already played the demo on PS3.
For the first trailer (how does one post youtube videos here?):
Game looks great, exactly how a Batman game SHOULD be. I actually played the demo multiple times, experimenting with the different ways I could take out all the thugs. After throwing batarangs at all 4 of the thugs in the big room near the end of the demo, I got their status into "frightened"(I think that's the last status you can get them in), when they all bunched up into a group and started firing their guns randomly in fear, I knocked out three of them with batarangs, glide kicked the one still standing, punched him out, and scaled back up the Gargoyle. When the three of them came to, one of them said: "Where the hell did he go? SHOW YOURSELF"!
Well, some early copies were released in some areas and the game should be available everywhere in the US tomorrow so this can now be about the entire final package. Changing the title to reflect that. I have to wait til Wed to have time to get my copy.
This game is awesome and I either need to get some money fast or go back to my friends house and risk our 10 year friendship by stealing the game from him while most likely beating his ass to get it. I'm leaning towards the 2nd option.
From what ive seen (about 3 or 4 hours into the game) the story is awesome. If you found any type of enjoyment from the demo or if your a batman fan whose been waiting for a TRUE batman game you MUST PLAY THIS and if you got some money you wanna spend, spend it on the game.
Its not perfect as some of the minor characters (prison guards and others) audio and lip movement aren't quite synced up but for me it wasn't completely off to make me frustrated at all. Also Batman looks a little awkward when he runs (just something I noticed.... why idk). Those are seriously the only bad things I can say about this game so far. And from what reviews are saying their isn't much bad about the game in its entirety.
So basically Arkham Asylum is the best batman game ever and I would have to finish the entire game but its feeling like the best comic book/superhero game ever IMO.
The batarang made me very sad, but I did like the artbook, and might even take a look at that second disc. If the reason you got the collectors edition was for the batarang (It likely was) then sad for you. I'm okay with it.
