this is not authentic... it has spelling errors and seems to be lacking in the subtlety that the nolan brothers seem to utilize. that, and it sucks. so i am going to stand by my theory of this being a phony...

generally it is used in association with bologna, which, contrary to it's spelling, has a similar phonetic signature. the term "phony bologna" or "phony bolony" as it was often misspelled, was coined in the late 1920's as a direct result of questionably lax standards in the meat packing industry. then superman and steampunk batman duked it out in the streets of metropolis, which inexplicably saved the day... or maybe it was upton sinclair... i don't recall the specifics, but suffice it to say, that term doesn't get a lot of usage these days, unless you roll in nursing homes, or pay really close attention to the 47 minute pop culture cycles that tend to pull little retro nuggets from the annals of history... (please to excuse the use of nuggets and annals, meant to create a visual pun as a substitute for nuggets and anal. i think scatological humor is funny...).
