Seeing how I Love You, Man underperformed and Adventureland didn't even break the Top 5 this week. I'm just wondering if people are finally getting tired of these kinda comedies?
From what I've heard, Adventureland isn't an Apatow style comedy, though it has been advertised as such. We'll have to wait until after Observe and Report, The Year One and Funny People come out to truely see if they're tired.
Meh, the thought of Cera and Black's personalities clashing kind of scares me. Those are two types of people that should never be back to each other. Separately, annoying. Together?....dear god.
"Observe and Report" is going to clean up this weekend - it'll certainly beat "Adventureland", and I'm anticipating it'll actually make quite a bit more than people expect over the long run, maybe becoming a surprise "Superbad"-style hit. It's getting very, very strong buzz - even David Letterman was raving about it on the Seth Rogen interview last week:
i thought i love you man was hilarious..... but that kinda had a seth rogen feel to it, like pineapple express and knocked up. So i think if he sticks w/ his seth rogen crew he'll be fine.........but when he uses the will ferrell crew, the films seem a little weaker. Love will ferrell though!
I absolutely loved Adventureland but I wasn't surprised it tanked.
I do think Apatow and gang are being over exposed. Every comedy seems to be coming from them. Now that we are so used to their comedy style, audiences can practically predict the punch lines of most of their jokes.
Because it's that time of year again, it's time to dust off the classics from Spill's golden age...
