I know he won an Oscar for Leaving Las Vegas, and he made another good movie (Guarding Tess), but that was all back in the 90's! And everything he's been in since then....he's sucked in! (Except National Treasure, but even there he was just OK). Granted, the movies he's been given were crappy (BANGKOK DANGEROUS? NEXT? THE WICKER MAN? WTF?), but is it bad projects or is he just losing it?
Adaptation was 2002 if i'm not mistaken and that's an excellent film with an excellent performance by Nicolas Cage. But yeah, he's certainly in a slump as far as his career goes.

I dunno, maybe he's just taking any offer he gets. Unfortunately, every offer he gets sucks ass, and would have one decent film come out of it all every once in a while.
