i'm really into david lynch at the moment can anyone suggest any other directors like lynch?
the surreal style of his work just astounds me. all suggestions more than welcome
all the recommendations are apt, but there is noone really LIKE lynch, hence the fascination..one of the few american directors concerned with producing ART..i also recommend Andrei Tarkovsky.

How come anyone hasn't mentioned Luis Bunuel ? He's the main influence on Lynch.
Start with Un chien andalou and L'age D'or,and if you like it then watch Belle du jour,Tristana,Simon of the dessert,Viridiana and last Phantom of the liberty and Discreet charm of the bourgeoisee.

Balshaw calls it 'Lynchian' and he should know as he's a total film egghead.
