That Guy Jv posted a statusWhy is nobody talking about this show? Or is it that people were talking about it and I just missed the boat? In any event, a friend recommended this show to me, and I've been glued to it for the last couple of days. If you watch The Walking Dead because you're a fan of horror and you haven't given this show a try, I implore you to do so. It's a visceral, surreal, and above all truly frightening experience. American Horror Story doesn't need glammed-up gore effects or hardcore R-rated content to be scary, but I think this show needs to move to HBO if it's going to survive, because I'm not sure the basic cable audience is ready for a show that's disturbing on this level.
What did you guys think? Is AHS genuinely scary, or is it just another hypersexualized supernatural show that I'm too big a puss to see through?

There are points and episodes that are generally creepy (the Halloween episode and some plot reveals later in the show) and there are plenty of twists and turns. I think it is meant to be more of a hyper-stylized show that is over acted but for great effect. There are also some cameos and characters that are unforgettable. If you have not finished it yet do it, it is worth the time. I am looking forward to seeing what they do in Season 2 after hearing they are bringing in a whole new cast.

Part of me loved it and part of me hated it, but the surreal, jarring and nightmarish visual style was something I've never seen on television before. Aesthetically, it's probably the most interesting thing in it's medium. But while it had it's share of flaws, the last three episodes were absolutely fantastic and more than made up for it's shortcomings. I'm looking forward to the second season real bad, especially since each season is gonna be it's own story arc.
I mean say what you want about Ryan Murphy's writing style (fucking Glee), but he knows how to make a TV show look positively exceptional.
