I know what you mean. Amazon is defending the book by saying freedom of speech and I say I have the right to protest. Yes this guy has the right to write about whatever he wants and I have equal rights to protest it if I don't agree with it.
The fact that there is a book like this out there makes me sick to my stomach.

Is making a product available the same thing as endorsing it? I'm not sure. I buy a lot from amazon mainly books. It is disturbing that a book on how to be a better pedophile is on the market, but in a free society we wont always be protected from being disturbed, and at least if the pervs buy the book from Amazon their will be an electronic record of everyone who has it. Maybe this whole thing is an elaborate sting operation?
It seems like you are more upset with amazon than the author of the book, Why is that? I respect Amazon for standing up for free speech.

I honestly don't think Amazon published the book because they believe in free speech. It's all about money with them, pure and simple. Sure, the same could be said about traditional publishing houses, but they're only able to cash in on popular books. Books that are thought to not have any market appeal get rejected, leaving the author with the choice of self-publishing or hiring a vanity publisher. Along with being the largest retail bookseller, Amazon is also a vanity publisher and the leading e-book distributor. For them, it doesn't matter if a book sells a million copies or ten, it's all money in the bank. The fact that manufacturing/distribution expenses are a non-issue with e-books gives them all the more reason to publishing anything that gets submitted to them.
Sickening, isn't it.

I like the fact that the internet has given a venue to "unmarketable" artists, and authors... Every once in awhile something like this happens, but amazon, and the internet in general have done a lot more good than bad. I have saved probably about a thousand dollars in school books ever since I quit buying them from the school bookstores, and it should go without saying that, that is awesome. I'm supposed to get raped on the price of texts books so Amazon will quit selling Molestation for Dummies? That's just a little too ironic for me.
That has always been my problem with most boycotts...People get pissed about something, and then they focus on that one minor issue, and completely ignore anything, and everything positive that the company, or thing they are boycotting might contribute.
I wish they wouldn't sell manuals on raping kids, but I'm thrifty.

Oh I'm mad at the author too. Not as much because it's been reported that the author has mental problem (I know a real shock). What I'm mad about is that a little while ago Amazon wouldn't post the top selling erotica books with the rest of the top selling books because it was in consideration of their customers. (This was protested and Amazon began to post Erotica in the best seller list again) Yet here they are a little while later letting a book that supports pedophilia be posted in the top books.
I don't mind Amazon supporting freedom of speech. I'm fine with that. They have the right of freedom of speech and I have the right to protest something I don't believe in or a site that supports something I don't believe in. I'm not going to be doing an violent protesting and I'm not forcing anyone to do anything. Everyone is in control of their own actions. There are several others including myself that are refusing to buy from Amazon because of this incident. If others continue to buy from them I'll not say a word as that is my choice. I just wanted to share my opinion, the incident, and what I'm doing about it.
