A couple of years ago when this film was announced, I was disappointed that Sony was rebooting the franchise the "right way."To be honest when I decided to see The Amazing Spiderman today, I went with my expectations to be in the medium. Not only I came out thinking they rebooted the franchise the "right way," but angry at the same time, asking myself why didn't they wrote this film for 2002?!
We all know the story of how Spider-Man became to be (bitten by a spider discover he has wall climbing powers and decided to become a vigilante after his Uncle Ben is shot dead), but The Amazing Spiderman has two other storylines including how Peter Parker trying to find the clues of his family from Dr. Connors (who is up to something that ends up destructive to NYC). And the love story between Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy. Their love in the film was so strong that the actors Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone started dating in real life in moved in together.
To all due respect to Tobey Maguire and all of the most of the cast from Sam Raimi's adaptation (especially Kristen Dunst) of Spider-Man (2002-2007) GOOD RIDDANCE. At first I was worried that Andrew Garfield would be mediocre as our web swinging hero, because he would've had to do a lot to beat Maguire. I mean I had no problem with Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy, Martin , but I was crossing my fingers for Garfield and watching him swing around in 3D just made me and my little sister say at the same time, "WHOA" I guess director Marc Webb (ironic his last name is webb. See thats how you know you can trust him) knew what he wanted his cast to do.
The fights between Spider-Man and the Lizard in 3D was awesome. In regular scenes you don't need the glasses, but when the action starts, that's when they come on. I know this is too early to make this call, but I see a best visual effects Oscar nomination up this film's alley.
If you are a comic book nerd and knew the original story of Spider-Man, this film is for you (I knew the original story cause I watched "The Spectacular Spider-Man" cartoon). Even if you never was a Spider-Man fan, I swear this film will make you become one. On one final note Mr. Maguire you're time has passed. Its out with the old in with the new. Just hope the May 2nd 2014 sequel will have Rhino in it. I am Rendy the Reviewer and I AM OUTA HERE!!
