Afro Samurai Resurrection review

You can't deny that a whole lot of time and money and talent went into the production of Afro Samurai: Resurrection.Plus who can deny Samuel L Jackson the mans one bad motherfucker.
To me personually this script is poor there was alot of money and talent dumped into this. Which should have made it way better then it actually was. But it's not a total complete waste.

The opening scene to Afro samurai is just awesome there's bloody fights going on everywhere, hell in a bridge is destroyed in the process.However nothing good ever lasts.

This picks up years later afro is living alone he looks like shit a man who is just plain tired. He has a beard, wild hair and looks as if he hasn't bathed in a while. Living in an old shack making small wooden figures that look like people from the last cast friends and foes.Kuma crashs in grabs afro dragging him all the way to the new villian Sio.Sio from what I heard from some of the guys is SUPER hot and sexy. Great eye candy for the show and she's a villian who wants revenge they beat afro some more. The she puts on the number one head band and tells afro that she's gonna bring his father back and fuck him up unless he stops her.

So now Afros back on the beat again looking for the number two head band so he can fight the number one again. Sound familiar people?

Now if your looking to see hot chicks, motorcycles and bloody fights yes they are here. Just not as much as. I myself love bloody fights and I love great animation. However again the story suffers alot.Again Afro samurai the character himself is boring even the loud mouth ninja ninja couldn't help him and ninja ninja himself was a bit over done and useless at times.

There was nothing new about this anime. To tell you the truth the main villian was abit annoying as well.Every time Sio was on she always told him why she wanted revenge this was like what 4-5 times. It was as if they didn't think the audience of this had a short term memory. Yes yes was get it Afro samurai killed alot of people some bad alot of the innocent people and he fucked up happy homes and destroyed towns. But did we see all this is the first Afro samurai? Who knows.

There are great characters in this that are just wasted like Kuma and the guy afro fought for the number two head band. For all the people who loved the first fight between Kuma and Afro this won't happen here.There was to many long boring gaps in this I did find myself falling alseep at times then waking up for a quick fight scene.There was a fight scene where Afro fight three of Sios family members turn cybergs not a bad fight.

However in the end everything is rushed. Afro, kuma and sio are killed by afro's father I mean they brough this dude back looking like the cracked out black version of the hulk here. This dude is getting stabbed in the back by Sio, slashed across his chest by kuma and had his arms cut up the middle by afro yet this fuckers still going strong.

Afros father kills afro first then Kuma and Sio. Sorry people no main fight with Sio and Afro at the end. For a moment everyone is dead yupe dead. Until a shock from Kuma's body brings Afro back. Up jumps Afro as if nothing happened he kicks ass and wins. At the end they make you think it'll be a part 3 because Justice is back so yes there will most likely be a three people.


Pros: Great animation and fight scenes.The style is awesome.

Cons: It's been done before in some ways better. This reminds me of a poor mans ninja scroll sorry people to me this does.Plus the sequel tried too hard to be so many things and accomplish so many things to the point where the film collapses on the points that are supposed to be its focal points.

I'd say don't buy this unless you totally loved the first Afro samurai. For all others who just want to check it out watch it on spike TV. Or like me over a friends house who already has the DVD. It's like they said fuck the story just make the animation pretty and put in a few bloody fight scenes people won't notice how bad this is. This is just my point of view nothing written in stone people so don't freak out.
