A little while ago I purchased the current edition of the 1,001 Movies You Must See Before You Die. Having looked through it, I read up on some of the films within, and there were a few that I didn't find interesting at all. They sell the films for being innovative and culturally significant, but I just didn't buy it as far as sounding like something I'd be entertained by.

So I ask you, fellow Spillios: what are movies that are classified as must-sees or classics that you just don't want to see? Feel free to give your reasons, and who knows, maybe a fan of the film you don't want to see will convince you to see it.

I'll post my list soon.

TITANIC, TITANIC, and TITANIC. I was sick of hearing that film when I was 10 it was everywhere and it had no business being the highest grossing film ever made.
This was the first film that came to mind, but I'm kind of interested to see it, because it's the was the highest grossing film at its time, and won 11 Oscars, yet no one has anything good to say about it. Does a naked Kate Winslet count for anything?
All those black and white movies. Holds me back every time
I would ask you to start by watching Young Frankenstein, which was shot in black and white in the 70's. It's a great film, that uses the black and white photography to it's advantage. I would then say to move onto one of the greatest comedies ever made, "Some Like it Hot." Give it a try, and you may over look the black and white.

A lot of my favorite films are black and white.
Sunset Boulevard
Touch Of Evil
Bridge Of River Kwai
A Bridge Too Far

I'm sure they're others, but these are the ones that come to mind.
Yes, Sunset Blvd is indeed a good movie
Alright, I'll take your word for it. I'll rent them.
arent the last two in colour though?? i refer of course to the alec guiness kwai and the all star bridge??
Sunset Blvd is awesome; I strongly encourage you to see it. Bridge on the River Kwai is too long, but it has a great performance for Alec Guiness and one hell of a climax.

I love, love, love, love "Sunset Boulevard!"  It's cinema at its finest.

As for "The Bridge on the River Kwai" I didn't love it as much as other people.  That's not to say I didn't like it though.  It is very entertaining.

Seriously give it a chance. It's really not a bad movie, and has some good scenes that you'll enjoy. Especially if you are a werewolf buff. It's not the "perfect werewolf movie", but it beats the hell out of the shit that's been put out lately.
The movie was too long! I watched it, and wanted to like it, but completely lost interest by the end.
