A Very Possible Backstory for Donkey from Shrek

Anyone remember watching Pinocchio as a kid? Well I remember that there was this one scene of where the children of Pleasure Island where suddenly turned into donkeys and forced to work in salt mines. Plus, we all know Pinocchio exist in the Shrek universe so I think that it very possible the Donkey that we know came from those salt mines.
