Hmm. I never saw the original Nightmare On Elm Street, but this new one looks cool. This maybe the one decent horror remake we have gotten since Dawn Of The Dead.
Maybe if I pretend it's the sequel to Little Children I won't be pissed off as much?
But seriously it does look quite good and I'm happy to see Samuel Bayer making this.
I agree this is another pointless remake, but I am hoping it will surprise me. Although coming from Platinum Dunes, that's going to be a hard sell. One can only hope that it will at least be entertaining.
If you want to be entertained, go watch the original. I can guarantee it's a whole fuck of a lot better than this remake could ever dream of being.
Why even bother wasting your time on this bullshit remake?
All it does is give douchebag studio heads and talentless producers the ability to justify their complete lack of originality by pointing out how these remakes make profit.
By spending any amount of money on this film you're actively taking part in the proliferation of bad movies.
I have seen Wes Craven's Nightmare on Elm Street, in fact all six of them. Some of this I can see also borrows from Freddy's Revenge.
I know I am taking part of there bullshit, but if it shows the studios that Freddy is still worth a damn and introduce the character to new viewers, even if it is a remake, I will be happy to pay for it. If it sucks, then I will never have to see it again or the sequels that follow.
I usually don't watch remakes unless it's something that actually turns out to be worth watching.
For example, I don't mind paying for this remake, but if somebody told me to go watch a Short Circuit remake, then they, and the Weinstein Company can go to hell.
Well yeah, he produced the remakes of The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, The Amityville Horror and Friday The 13th - so that ain't a good sign.
Anyway, I have to agree with the others, it is a pointless remake. I actually watched the original Nightmare on Elm Street recently and it still holds up well, even the levitation scene in the bedroom looks surprisingly good.
Honestly though, if there was one reason to see it, it would be for Jackie Earle Haley, I'd like to see what he does with the character.
The remake of The Amityville Horror wasn't all that bad, however the other remakes you mentioned sucked. The only part I enjoyed in Friday the 13th and that was when Jason ran, I'm sick of the slow moving killer gimmick. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre was crap compared to the original.
I also agree that the only good things from this are going to be Jackie Earl Haley and his darker version of Freddy.
