It's RUMORED that QT is doing a remake of Less Than Zero. How cool would that be. Although this is a great movie all on it's own and really doesn't need to be remade ... I wonder what he would do different?
He has no problem taking bits and pieces of other movies and making money from them, so a remake doesn't surprise me. And he takes long breaks in between movies. This will probably die in the planning stages.
I read and really enjoyed the book and only recently knew that there was a movie made about it. From the SECOND the movie started, I knew it had completely missed the mark. With the exception of Robert Downey Jr., this film was miscast, terribly written and the music is just awful. Completely awful. The book is a dark and complex introspection into a culture of drugs, sexual ambiguity and partying. The movie makes a mockery of the concept and tone of the book and I have no clue how Ellis signed off on this thing being made. I mean, this movie has A SCORE. It has instrumentals, and piano music and is just wrong on so many different levels. Less Than Zero was a novel filled with 80s punk references and a nihilistic culture that was just so difficult to comprehend. I can't stress enough that Quentin Tarantino can't possibly do worse than whoever directed the first one. I can't wait.
