If it's crap... We'll tell you

After looking at the title, the first thing you'll probably think is; 'Hay, this guy's retarded.' But no! Hear me out!

Every great movie needs a bad guy. Star Wars had Darth Vader, Back to The Future had Biff and so on. Adding this formula to reality may not work as well as it does in movies, as the good guy doesn't always win in the end.

There's no denying that Bolls movies are shit and that whole thing with the critics was a total load of shit. But there's his overall 'appeal'. After watching one of Bolls movies, then watch one of your favourite movies after, wouldn't you appreciate the latter movie more than you normally would do?

Another thing to note would be his undeniable passion for what he does. His movies are crap, always have been always will be, they always lose money at the box office, he's hated by every movie goer out there. Why does he continue? The man has no talent in terms of movies, but he sure as hell loves making them.

I don't like his movies, never have, but I admire his devotion, the fact he continues making them regardless of what critics say, just for the love of it. He may be retarded but he does love movies. And after all, aren't you a lot more appreciative of good movies after watching his?

Uwe Boll is like the shit to your cake. The cake being good movies and the shit being Uwe Boll. You eat a lot of cake and eventually you grow bored of it's taste. You have cake, then you wash your mouth out with shit, and then the cake tastes even better!

In a nut shell, that's right. Good analogy.

I'd still compare him to Ed Wood though, based primarily on the fact that they both have a huge passion for making movies and trying to get their work seen even though the general public doesn't like his films.

He's a better comparison to Ed Wood than Seltzer and Friedberg, because as someone else said he tries to do his best.

I like to use Uwe Boll as an example of "What NOT to do" for filmmakers. So, technically we do need him (and his kind) to point to and say "don't do that". It's sort of nice to have a visual example for teaching someone how to do something. It's almost like bicycles in a way. Eventually, you need to take the training wheels (Uwe Boll) off and let the rider (Other Directors) either fall over, or ride off into the sunset.

Right on, MDS!!

Uwe Boll is an important part of Hollywood. He is the standard for which directors should try to avoid following. Think about it. We've seen some crappy films made this year, but hey, at least they weren't directed by Mr. Boll. That fact itself made those films swallowable.

This is like the Yin and Yang philosophy...but I don't agree.

I don't need to eat shit to like cake

All I have to say is that the man at least tries. He isnt taking the Seltzer and Friedberg route and referencing random summer blockbusters. I havent seen a Boll movie, but from what I hear he is trying to create great movies and failing miserably. But the key word is TRYING people. He is more creative than Seltzer and Friedberg and he puts effort (how much is arguable) into his movies.

Plus, the man loves what he does, and I will be damned before I condem a man for doing what he loves just because he is crap at it. The man has a drive that rivals some of the best directors, but his talent is sub par. If he could channel that drive and simply get better at film making, he could be one of the best directors of our time.
