My dad just walked in my room not 20 minutes ago and said " I'm gonna give you some advice". Like any teenager I was like oh great because these conversations are usually awkward.
But he said something that surprised me he said "don't give anything away in here". I said give what away? And he replied the Silent Bob shit even the knock off Elvis and John Wayne pictures. He then told me that he use to have a KISS shirt and all this kind of stuff like me. That he regrets throwing his stuff away. He repeatedly told me to just roll the poster up and keep them till I'm 50 then I could sell them or something. lol.
I just thought this was interesting and kinda cool.
Good advice, hang on to your 'shit', and take care of it. I could kick myself when I think of all the Star Wars toys I either trashed or just threw away when I thought I was 'too old' for them.
Ha, ha. Now, as a 'grown up' I see how much that stuff is fetching on eBay, and in collector shops. I could've made a decent down payment on a new car and paid a few months rent/bills with some of that stuff. I don't know how knowledgeable you are when it comes to 'geek stuff', but I had an original 'sneak peak' Boba Fett, among other 'original' SW figures, all kinds of vehicles, like an AT-AT, Slave 1, Millineum Falcon, sigh, I better quit talking before I make myself sad.
I had tons of comic books as well, and I actually took care of them. Had the first two years of the original GI Joe comic series, among other things. I threw those out as well. Of course, in 1987 the market for that kind of stuff wasn't anywhere near what it is now. I don't know how much Silent Bob merch. will go up in value, but it seems most movie-related stuff is worth hanging on to these days.
Yeah thats what I was trying to tell my dad. I'm not going to get rid of it or sell it. I'm going to keep it and my posters and memorabilia will have its own little room in my house. You wouldn't believe how much stuff I have on my wall. Hell, I'm running out of room here.
Did you know little Silent Bob was played by Kevin Smith’s daughter? Also at one point in time I had this rap memorized and the little thing they did with Jason Lee in the comic book store later on in the movie...Some people have star wars. I have Kevin Smith.
