Favorite comics: This changes as creative teams change, but as of this writing:
The Immortal Iron Fist
Astonishing X-Men (Warren Ellis)
Ultimate Spider-Man
The Walking Dead
Uncanny X-Men
New Avengers
Scott Pilgrim
How do I get my friend/girlfriend to read comics?
Fables is a good way to start, but they need to give it at least 2 trades before they make a decision.
Buffy. Chicks dig Buffy.
Ultimate Spider-Man is usually a pretty good way to go.
The Sandman - this one is probably the most successful 'gender-crossover' title in a male-dominated medium.
What are the best horror movies around?
These may not be the scariest. They may not even be the best, per se. But they're my favorites in no particular order (and are completely subject to change).
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre (the original)
Halloween (the original)
Night of the Living Dead (again, the original)
The Brood
Jacob's Ladder
The Thing (John Carpenter's remake)
The Exorcist
Zombie (Lucio Fulci!)
Bride of Frankenstein
Brides of Dracula
Favorite Video Games:
Mario Kart
Oblivion
Gyruss
Sinistar
System Shock 2
Ico
Battlefield 2: Modern Combat
Grim Fandango
The King's Quest series
Chrono Trigger
Star Wars (original arcade)
WarCraft 2
Whoa! I've never heard of this. Very cool. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. That's all I need - something else to keep me from accomplishing anything at work!
Moving into Halloween, I have a tradition. I watch what I call the 'Halloween trilogy'. I watch the original Halloween, Halloween 2, and Halloween H20. I absolutely hate the 3rd-6th movies, and I truly despise Resurrection and the remakes. I like the original, sequel, and H20 because they deal with the story of Michael chasing his sister. When the series moved away from that, it suffered. I especially like the ending of H20, with (11-year-old spoiler warning) Laurie cutting Michael's head off, killing him and ending the series. However, I have noticed a lot of hate for H20. So, my question is, why do so many people hate H20?
I really don't care for H20, myself. There's some good stuff there, I suppose, but its watered down, 90's teen horror. It's not scary and falls into the same pile as Urban Legand and Final cut.
That's understandable. I also don't really like the whole "let's try to be a self-satire like Scream" aspect of H20, but I very much enjoy the character elements of Laurie Strode and her final confrontation with Michael. What opinion do you have, if any, about the middle of the series, 4-6?
hey man, a while back you mentioned on LEOG a book talking about Lucas screening Empire to Spielberg and Coppola and them laughing him out or something to that effect. What was the book or am I thinking of someone else who said this?
Mr. Jason, I figured I would pose a question or two unto you (being the resident zombie aficionado) since it will, statistically speaking, be passed over before LEOG. 1) Who would win a war of Zombie vs Mummies? 2) Is it necrophilia if all parties involved are already dead (be they zombie, mummy or any other reanimated or necromanced entity)?
Hey Jason, i got a bit of a dilemma, since there is going to be a Halloween movie night special at my local cinema, what movie do you recommend i should see, The original Texas Chainsaw massacre or Zombie Land, I haven't seen either yet, so Id like your opinion on the matter.
Have a good "Great Pumpkin" Snoopy :P
Tough one, Snoop. Zombieland is an absolute blast, but Chain Saw Massacre? That's my absolute favorite. That said, Zombieland is probably better to see with a crowd.
so...do any of you know how old any of these superheros are?
I know they don't age outside of the X-Men, Spider Man,odd stand alone, non-cannon story arcs, and only the teens or side-kicks seem to age but, do you personally know the age of any of them?
Not really. Time is slippery with comics. It's a tricky proposition. Some of them age like you said, X-Men, Spidey, etc, but it's whatever suits the story.
In 1942, Jacques Turner directed a horror film titled “Cat People”. Making frightening cat people in those days would have been impossible, but now in 2009 James Cameron has attempted to do what Jacques Turner could never: create convincing cat pe…

Choker finally got the player for his podcast fixed, bout time
I need money for the vending machine. I have 50 cents but the damn Iced Tea/ Lemonade drinks are $1.50! Can any of you come out to New York and spot me a dollar?
In 1942, Jacques Turner directed a horror film titled “Cat People”. He imagined a woman being stalked by men dressed as cats. When he realized how stupid this would look on film he decided to remove the giant cat people from the film entirely. Wel…
I'll go with "Avatar: The Last Airbender", the music is so awesome and not having it's own OST it's a complete wasted opportunity. The closest there is the composers' MySpace page.
You guys got any examples?
