I have not read the books, which leaves me at a disadvantage when it comes to knowing all the aspects of the story. But the fact that I have not read the books gives me a lack of bias when looking at the trailer.
The Bad:
The film tone just looks wrong all together. The cameraman must have went to Best Buy for his equipment, because there is an obvious lack of cinematography. The special effects look very bland and the shots were the leading male character jumps from a tree, they might have well have left the wires in the shot because you can still tell. Also if you have ever seen the show Moonlight pay very close attention to the action sequences. The villains in the trailer also seem so uninteresting and it is almost impossible to be afraid of them.
The Good:
Casting looks alright. The main characters seem to hold some chemistry and their acting ablility is not horrible nor is it outstanding.
Summary:
Probably not on par with something like Harry Potter. To me Twilight is striving to be something that could really happen in our everyday world (sort of), but in doing that it lacks imagination and an alternative reality.
At this point reruns of Moonlight look more interesting.
I agree. my friend has read them all and said that the movie looks awesome. I told her cause you know whats going on. You read the books I didn't and probably won't because alot of people said they are for girls.
Actually I didn't read the books. Sorry I posted that really close to the bottom of the video so that may be hard to see. I only know the story through tid bits that I have read on the internet and from what my (girl) friends have told me.
I am deeply sorry for making such an immature statement. I'm just a little pissed on how our ENGLISH teacher made us read this for a grade. I was just blowing off some steam. :/
The book isn't bad either now that I realize it! My English teacher also trashed Harry Potter which kind of what led me to write that stupid comment. I'm not like that at all! So I'm sorry for that again. :P
On topic and away from replying to another user's comment, I do think that the trailer was acceptable in terms of giving fans of the book a glimpse into something leaping from the pages and into a visual feast for them.
The casting, I find, is an important part as it gives die-hard fans of the book to compare their imaginary incarnations of the characters and turn them into something tangible.
For me, I'm just wondering how Victoria and Jasper (My two personal favourite characters from the books) pan out.
Fingers crossed.
A friend recommended Twilight to me after I asked him for advice on a good book that I could listen to on CD ( I listen to audio-books whilst I work). I knew nothing about this book other than it was popular right now.
About 70% thru this Harlequin romance level vampire love story, I couldn't take anymore. I wikipedia-ed the book to see if the story would actually move anywhere forward. When I read that it was geared towards 15 yr. old girls,
I phoned my friend and called him a fucker.
I've read the books, they were okay. Its actually a good story, but I never liked Stephanie Meyers writing. I really hope the movie tells the story good, but with the cast . . .I dunno. Maybe once we get a theatrical trailers we'll be able to tell more. But even though I know this movie will make a shit load of money, I'm not expecting it to be all that great.
